Wanshou Temple is located in Haidian District, Beijing. It was first built in the 5th year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1577) and was expanded many times during the Kangxi, Qianlong, and Guangxu periods of the Qing Dynasty. It became a famous royal temple in western Beijing. Empress Dowager Chongqing, the mother of Emperor Qianlong, and Empress Dowager Cixi both celebrated their birthdays here. In addition to admiring the ancient buildings and cultural relics, you can also feel the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere at Wanshou Temple: winding corridors, green pines and cypresses, small bridges and flowing water, and ancient trees.
