The beauty of Al-Hakim Mosque 🇪🇬

The Al-Hakim Mosque is a historic mosque located in Cairo, Egypt. It was built between 990 and 1013 CE during the Fatimid Caliphate. The mosque has a large dome, two minarets, and a courtyard with a mihrab. It was named after Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, the sixth Fatimid caliph and 16th Ismaili Imam. The mosque was originally built by the Fatimid vizier Gawhar Al-Siqilli and was completed by Al-Hakim. The mosque was neglected and repurposed for other functions over the centuries, eventually falling into ruin. In 1980, the Dawoodi Bohras completed a major restoration and reconstruction of the mosque, resulting in its reopening for religious use. #christmastrip
