A historic town about an hour's drive from Jaén

The town's main monument is the Alcazar of Yedra, also known as the "Castle of the Four Corners" and home to the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of the Upper Guadalquivir. Housed in the former convent of the Padres Mercedarios, the Town Hall dates from the 16th century and is a building with a distinctly Renaissance style. The San Juan de la Penitenciaría Convent, now a youth hostel, has the same style and features from the same period. Any tour should definitely include the palaces of Las Cadenas and La Vicaría, the Plaza Santa María, and the churches of San José, San Francisco, and El Carmen. Another attraction is that it is located in the Sierra Cazorla, Segura and Las Velas Nature Reserve, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. There are many routes to explore the area, by foot, bike and 4WD.
