Kuizhou Ancient City - Yidou Gate

On the left side of Fengjie Port in Baidi City Scenic Area, there is a towering city gate facing the river, with the plaque of the city gate reading 'Yidou Gate'. This city gate was rebuilt from 2002 to 2004. The original city gate was located in the ancient city of Kuizhou in Rangxi. Due to the water storage of the Three Gorges Reservoir, as much as 11,000 cubic meters of city gate stones were 'reconstructed in the original scale, original shape, and original craftsmanship' at today's location. Yidou Gate, commonly known as the Great South Gate, is one of the five city gates of the ancient city of Kuizhou in Rangxi. The two characters 'Yidou' come from Du Fu's Kuizhou poem 'Autumn Interest Eight Poems' Part Two: The lonely city of Kui Prefecture is slanting at sunset, always looking at Beijing and China according to the Big Dipper. Listening to the apes is really three tears, and the envoy is empty with the August raft. The painting province incense burner violates the hidden pillow, and the mountain building powder wall hides the sad flute. Please look at the moon on the stone, and the reeds and flowers in front of the continent have been reflected. The poet feels autumn and sends interest, writes from Kuizhou to Chang'an, from Chang'an to Kuizhou, and repeatedly expresses his strong nostalgia for Chang'an, expresses his persistent pursuit of ideals, and expresses his deep feelings and tragic feelings for the rise and fall of the country. 'Always look at Beijing and China according to the Big Dipper' is called 'the bone of the eight chapters'. Every time I read this sentence, an emaciated old man will appear in front of my eyes, sitting alone in the river building from day to night, the autumn wind of the gorge is desolate, the autumn sound is clear and sad, and the poet's mood is lonely and desolate. It also expresses the loneliness that his lofty political ideal of 'sending you to Yao and Shun, and making the customs pure again' is difficult to achieve. The people of Kuizhou love Du Fu, admire Du Fu, are proud of Du Fu's residence in Kuizhou, and commemorate their idol--the great patriotic poet Du Fu with 'Yidou Gate'.
