Sanfang Qixiang is one of the larger and better-preserved historical and cultural districts in China, and it is one of the few remaining ancient architectural sites in the country. It is known as the 'living fossil of China's urban Li Fang system' and the 'museum of Chinese Ming and Qing architecture.' It is listed as one of 'China's Top Ten Historical and Cultural Famous Cities' and is a 'National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit'.
