Guangling Ice Mortar | A legacy scroll left to the world

Guangling Ice Mortar—located in Dongzha Village, Guangling County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province There are two routes to Guangling Ice Mortar 1. The round-trip route is 7km long with a climb of 100m and takes about 3 hours. 2. The Ginkgo Loop route is 16km long with a climb of 650m and takes about 5-8 hours. Attraction Introduction: Ice mortars are one of the relics of ancient glaciers, formed by the glacial meltwater during the late Quaternary glacier period. The meltwater carried ice debris and rock fragments through glacial fissures from top to bottom, intensely impacting and grinding the underlying bedrock, creating deep pits. These pits resemble the stone mortars used in ancient China for drying spring rice, with surfaces shaped in circular, near-circular, elliptical, and irregular forms, looking like pairs of 'eyes' of the earth. Route Introduction: The best viewpoint of Guangling Ice Mortar is at the end of the starting point. If you take the round-trip route, you won't experience the stunning beauty of the scroll of the world all at once. If you take Route 2, the Ginkgo Loop, when you finally reach the end of Guangling Ice Mortar after climbing over the mountains, tired in body and mind, your eyes will be captivated by a beautiful scene. The sunlight slants down from the steep mountain top, casting warm rays on the water surface and the verdant grassland.
