After exiting the Central Market, you will arrive at the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator System, which is 800 metres long and runs from Queen’s Road Central to Conduit Road in Mid-Levels. It is the world’s longest outdoor covered escalator and has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The first section of the elevator runs through Stanley Street, Wellington Street, Gage Street, Lyndhurst Terrace and Hollywood Road, and is the section with the heaviest traffic. When you get on the elevator, you will naturally feel like you have entered a time tunnel and traveled back in time, with the old scenery and the bustling downtown area all within your sight. In a corner of Stanley Street, Hui Chun Tang was built in 1916, and Snake Wong Fun also has a history of 100 years; further back is Wellington Street, where you can see Mak Kwong Kee and Tsim Chai Kee, each with its own unique wonton noodles; Tung Sin Tan is a Taoist group, and its architecture is very Chinese in style. Walking through the stairs, you will be greeted by a new atmosphere. The quiet and tranquil environment forms a sharp contrast with the bustling city outside. This place is amazing. It is one of the attractions on the Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail, the original site of the founding of the Xingzhonghui in Hong Kong and the original site of the Fu Jen Literary Society. Fu Jen Literary Society was founded by Yeung Qu-yun and wealthy businessman Hsieh Tsun-tai between 1890 and 1892, during the late Qing Dynasty and the Xinhai Revolution. Fu Jen Literary Society brought together literati and patriots to discuss current affairs. In 1895, Sun Yat-sen came to Hong Kong and got to know Fu Jen Literary Society. It merged with the Xing Zhong Hui at Tanxiangshan to form the Xing Zhong Hui of Hong Kong. They started revolutions in Guangzhou and Huizhou. After the failure, Yeung Qu-wan returned to Hong Kong and was assassinated by the Qing government in his residence at 52 Jiezhi Street in 1901. Baizili Park was built to commemorate the revolutionary forefather Yang Quyun and Fu Jen Literary Society, and is a forum for patriotism and the enlightenment of the people.
