Day Trips from Milan

🇮🇹Day Trips from Milan, Lago Di Varese|||❶Varese is known as "La Provincia Dei 7 Laghi" (Province of the Seven Lakes). In addition to the largest Lago Maggiore and Lago Lugano, there is also the lake of the same name, Lago Varese. ❷The original plan was to go see the sunrise early in the morning. I chose a sunny day, but I forgot to consider the recent poor air quality around Milan, which made the lake foggy in the morning until 11 am! It's better to go to the top of the mountain to see the sunrise! ❸The lake is quite large, and walking around it is exhausting, so I recommend choosing a few spots to enjoy the lake and the Swiss snow-capped mountains. Relaxing in the sun is the best activity at this lake. Here are some viewpoints I know of👇 ❹Spiaggia Voltorre: Free parking at Via Don Macchi 8. Walk towards the lake for a while and you will see the Swiss snow-capped mountains and Gavirate on the opposite side. The scenery is the best, and most of the photos were taken here. The downside is that there is nowhere to sit by the lake. ❺Ristorante Pizzeria Al Lago: You can park on the side of the road. There is a wooden plank on the lake that is a bit wobbly. This is where photo 15 was taken. The main purpose is to take a photo of the church and Monte Rosa on the opposite side. There are no other photo spots, but there are seats by the lake. ❻Lido della Schiranna: Free parking at Park&Bus. There is a bar by the lake, and you can check the lake conditions online to see if there is fog or if the snow-capped mountains are visible. The scenery is the same as above, and this is probably the most crowded spot. ❼Pesca lago Varese trampolino: Free parking at Chiesa S. Lorenzo, but try not to park there on weekends when it's crowded. Parking is only for those going to the church to pray. The south side of the lake doesn't have a view of the snow-capped mountains, so the scenery is not as good. The main attraction is Campo Dei Fiori in Varese (photos 16-18), and you can also see the Sacro Monte di Varese from afar. ❽Summary: The lake is worth seeing, but it doesn't offer much. For a quick visit, I recommend spot ❹, and for a more comfortable visit, I recommend spot ❻.
