This trip to Jiaxing coincided with continuous drizzle, which unexpectedly added a unique Jiangnan charm to the journey🌿. I enjoyed a leisurely weekend at my own pace. Here's the itinerary👇 📍Day 1 🚄9:50 Effortlessly hopped on the train from Shanghai South Railway Station to Jiaxing South Railway Station Upon exiting the station, I took the tram🚃, a mere 2 yuan fare, directly to the South Lake Scenic Area～ 11:00 The Allure of Shaobing on Xiexi Street Headed straight to "Xiexi Street Shaobing No. 1 Store". Their exclusive bamboo shoot and diced meat shaobing, with thin skin and chewy filling, lived up to the hype! 11:40 Visiting the Tranquil Catholic Church The church appeared even more solemn in the rainy weather. I stumbled upon a romantic wedding shoot. Opposite, the former residence of Shen Zengzhi silently narrated history, showcasing Jiaxing's rich cultural heritage. 13:00-15:30 Picturesque South Lake Scenery Strolled along South Lake, no tickets required. Simply take a flat boat or wander across the small bridges and flowing water. The misty Jiangnan rain created a scene like a traditional ink painting. South Lake Tiandi Commercial Street awaits your exploration. 17:00 A Feast at Tongxiang Three Girls Clay Pot The "Three Treasures" clay pot was rich in ingredients, with tender chicken feet and fragrant rice cakes. The soup paired perfectly with rice – simply irresistible! 18:10 The Lively Atmosphere of Yuexiu Night Market A night market near the university, affordable and delicious. While nothing particularly novel, it was enjoyable😋. 📍Day 2 11:00-12:20 Morning at Zhenzhen Fresh Wontons and Shaobing After waking up naturally, I enjoyed a bowl of large wontons with chili sauce and vinegar – just the right flavor👍. 12:45 The Ultimate Jia's Fried Shaobing Challenge Highly recommended by the driver, the crispy fried bottom of the shaobing was fragrant and spicy. However, moderation is key to avoid feeling overwhelmed. 13:15-14:15 Exploring the Yuehe Historic District Explored Jiaxing's specialty pastries and the Zongzi Museum, learning about the history of zongzi. Tried the Zhenzhen Laolao Zongzi and Lu Gaojian Tea Cakes. The tea cakes were sweet and refreshing, highly recommended! 14:30 A Cozy Time at Pengpengfu Coffee A short break before the return trip. This small neighborhood cafe offered creative coffee with excellent flavor. I'll definitely be back! 🚄16:24-16:58 Effortlessly returned from Jiaxing South to Shanghai Hongqiao Averaged 8,000 steps a day, the perfect choice for a lazy weekend getaway. 💡Tips for Lazy Travelers: 1⃣ Taxis are readily available throughout the trip, costing no more than 50 yuan, making it easy and convenient. 2⃣ Jiaxing is full of shaobing places, each with its own specialty. Chili sauce and vinegar are key. Choose your favorite! 3⃣ Jiaxing is a city worth visiting multiple times. Ancient towns and museums await your exploration.
