If you take the train about an hour from Tokyo, there is a place called Kasukabe, which is the background of the anime Crayon Shin-chan. As it is a small city, the overall atmosphere of the neighborhood is quiet and relaxed. I happened to find a cafe while walking around, and it was a cafe that roasted coffee itself. The entrance was filled with the rich smell of roasted coffee, and they had a variety of specialty coffees, so it was great. The staff were very friendly, unlike people who are tired of tourists in big cities. When I asked for a coffee recommendation, they asked me in detail about my taste and the strength I wanted. The menu was difficult because the descriptions were all in Japanese except for the names of the menu items, but I was so grateful that they explained each item in English. I ordered homemade cheesecake and homemade gateau chocolate cake, and they were really delicious. There was also a meal menu, but we just had a light coffee and left. The neighborhood with the uniquely calm and quiet atmosphere of Japan was so impressive, and I felt so comfortable in a small city that I had only been to big cities.
