The Dragon's Back Sky Road, located in Zangke Town, Liuzhi Special District, Guizhou, gets its name from the dragon spine-like ridge it traverses. Winding through mountain ranges like a giant serpent, it's a paradise for driving enthusiasts and hikers alike. This stunning landscape has been featured in China National Geographic and served as a filming location for Huawei's AITO car commercials. Navigation & Transportation • Self-drive: Navigate directly to "Chengzi Yakou, Liuzhi Special District." Most sections are paved roads accessible by regular cars, but be cautious of narrow stretches with limited passing space. Starting from Langdai Ancient Town, take County Road 003 via Shangzhai Village and Datieguan Village. After passing Datieguan Department Store near the bridge, turn left at the Zangke Scenic Area sign. Pass Tiger Rock Park, descend about 300m, then turn right at the "Jiuyuan" blue sign onto the rural road. At forks, always take the right uphill route—drive slowly through numerous curves. Note: Currently there's a collapsed road section at Chengzi Yakou where 3-5 cars can park nearby. From here, reaching the summit requires a 1.5km hike with 200m elevation gain. For non-hikers, navigate to "Libaozhai (Liuzhi Special District Yishan Village Committee)" and turn left uphill before reaching the destination. Though steeper and narrower, this route leads directly to the summit—not recommended for inexperienced drivers. Note: Baidu Maps shows no data for the upper mountain roads. • Public transport: Reach Liuzhi Special District first, then transfer to rural buses or taxis—infrequent services make self-driving preferable. Activities • Scenic drive: Navigate hairpin turns and steep slopes amidst fantastical karst formations resembling axe-cut sculptures, creating a thrilling 3D fantasy world experience reminiscent of "Fast & Furious." Maintain safe speeds. • Hiking exploration: One of Guizhou's most representative karst stone forest trails. For partial hiking, drive halfway up. Recommended starting point: Jiuyuan Village near Tiger Rock Park, following contour-hugging paths. Full 23km trail with 1,550m elevation gain suits experienced hikers; beginners should select sections. • Photography: Every shot becomes masterpiece-worthy. Whether aerial views or road-level perspectives, the otherworldly landscape satisfies all creative needs.
