Luoyang Longmen Grottoes

The Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan, are a large-scale Buddhist grotto complex built by the royal family from the Northern Wei to the Tang Dynasty. It is the largest and most well-preserved stone carving art site among existing grottoes! In 2000, it was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site! Together with the Mogao Grottoes and Yungang Grottoes, it is one of the three major grottoes in China.
