Of valleys, onsens and coastline

#japantrip Shikoku is the birthplace of one of the most important figures in Japanese Buddhism, the Japanese monk Kobo Daishi. From one of Japan's oldest Onsen's to the dramatic cliffs in the Iya valley. There is plenty to see and do for the traveller in Shikoku. The Dogo Onsen hot springs here are the oldest in Japan, with traditional wooden bathhouses and ryokan guesthouses, while the intricate landscape gardens of Ritsurin Koen in Takamatsu make for a peaceful and contemplative visit. While it's amongst the smallest of Japanese islands. It still has abundance in Natural beauty for exploration. The peeing boy statue that you might find on social media is also from here. The main attraction on Shikoku is Iya Valley with its dramatic peaks and rugged cliffs. The area was once used as a secret hideaway by fugitives, but today you can enjoy getting lost in the region’s winding roads, vine bridges and riverside hot spring escapes #japantrip #nature #nihon #flowerlover
