The Stunning Backdoor Hike in Petra

The Little Petra to Petra hike is a great way to experience Petra without the crowds. The route will take you to the Monastery, which is equally as spectacular but far less visited than the Treasury. The hike starts at the backdoor of Petra, which can be reached by taking a jeep shuttle from Little Petra. The shuttle costs 5 Jordanian dinars per person and takes you as close as you can get to the steps for the back trail up to The Monastery. The trail is about 8 kilometers long and takes 1.5-2 hours to complete. The path is in good condition all the way and the first half is flat. The exposed trail and heat in the summer months can make this track pretty tiring. Not only is this a perfect winter getaway but also an area away from tourists and the souvenir stands and you also get to see some pretty wild landscape that you wouldn't otherwise get to experience. #christmastrip
