Kuanzhai Alley - a must-visit spot in Chengdu!

Chengdu's Kuanzhai Alley consists of parallel Kuan (Wide) Alley, Zhai (Narrow) Alley, and Jing (Well) Alley, all featuring antique quadrangle courtyards with blue-grey tiles and bricks. It is one of the larger-scale ancient streets from the Qing Dynasty remaining in Chengdu, and together with Daci Temple and Wenshu Monastery, it is known as one of the three major historical and cultural conservation districts in Chengdu. This area is the last remnant of the 'Thousand-Year-Old Little City' urban pattern and century-old authentic architectural style of old Chengdu, and it represents a 'unique copy' of northern Hutong culture and architectural style in the south. The hitching post is one of the three remaining hitching posts in Kuanzhai Alley. A hundred years ago, this area was inhabited by the Manchu and Mongolian Bannermen and their families, who had the habit of riding horses. The hitching post is a symbolic representation of northern culture in Western Sichuan.
