Sone Tenmangu Shrine, Famous for its Spiritual Pine

Sone Tenmangu Shrine is dedicated to the god of learning, Sugawara no Michizane. The spiritual pine (reisho) that Michizane personally planted died in 1798, but its trunk is still preserved in the Reisho Hall. It is said that the fifth generation pine is currently being cultivated. The spacious shrine precincts are filled with nature, including the Shin Pond and plum grove.
