Lake Naivasha is located about 90 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, and is situated within the Great Rift Valley. The lake was formed by fault subsidence, with a length of 20 kilometers from north to south, a width of 13 kilometers from east to west, a maximum depth of 20 meters, a lake surface elevation of 1900 meters, and a lake surface area of about 260 square kilometers. It is the highest lake in the rift valley. There is a winding island in the middle of the lake called "Crescent Island", which is a private wildlife sanctuary. Lake Naivasha is one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes in Kenya and the only freshwater lake in Kenya. The lake is rich in perch and African carp. There are large areas of papyrus swamps on the lake shore, and a "Country Club" is set up on the lake shore.
