Songzhou Ancient City

In ancient times, this was the gateway to western Sichuan and a major border town. In times of peace, it was a market and post station on the Ancient Tea Horse Road. In times of war, it was a solid fortress. Today, it is an ancient town on the way from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou. The ancient city is not large, but the market is bustling. It takes about 20–30 minutes to walk from one end of the main street to the other. Try the yak kebabs (CNY 1 per skewer) and handmade yogurt. Photos taken with a phone.
