"The Shield of Europe" Valletta

Valletta is the capital of the Republic of Malta, named after Jean de Vallette, the sixth Grand Master of the Order of Saint John (who was in office from 1557 to 1568 and the founder of Valletta). In 1565, the Order of Saint John faced another siege, and under the leadership of Grand Master Vallette, the knights swore to defend Malta to the death. This battle is known as the famous "Siege of Malta" in European history. This battle won Malta the reputation of "Shield of Europe", but at the same time, it turned the old capital and various fortresses into ruins. The commander decided to build a new capital, and various countries in Europe strongly supported it economically and technologically. After the new city was built, the people named it "Valletta" in honor of him. Built along the mountains, the layout of Valletta is neat, and the streets undulate like mountain slopes. Climbing to the top of the narrow and straight street, you will see the magnificent sea in front of you.
