|The Premier Ancient Pagoda of Weibei. The Gaoling Zhaohui Pagoda, also known as the Gaoling Pagoda or Sanyang Pagoda, is a dense-eave brick pagoda. It is said to have been built during the Dazhong period of the Tang Dynasty (847–859 AD) and was repaired after the major earthquake in Guanzhong during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. In 1981, the Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau carried out major repairs on the pagoda. Standing 53 meters tall, the pagoda has 8 sides and 13 stories, with a round, vase-shaped top. Its unique architectural style features an interior brick staircase spiraling up to a domed ceiling. Its ingenious structure is rarely seen among existing ancient pagodas in China. The pagoda's exquisite construction and rigorous structure have allowed it to stand majestically for thousands of years, earning it the title of "The Premier Ancient Pagoda of Weibei." It provides invaluable physical data for the study of ancient Chinese construction techniques, building materials, and earthquake resistance.
