🌳Eergu’Na Wetlands in INNER MONGOLIA
While visiting Inner Mongolia, you have the chance to experience China’s biggest wetland area in Erguna. It is also, like pretty much everything else in China, the first known wetland in Asia.
This area is a National Park and has great infrastructure all the way around. At the entry and exit point, you will find yourself surrounded by little gift and snack shops, but they are a bit more pricey since it’s a tourist area.
With a large and well built boardwalk, you can go from one side to the other, and also go down the hill a bit into the wetlands. However, you cannot actually reach any parts of the river. From the top, the contrasting view between the city and vast green landscape makes for great pictures, and complement the scenery in a beautiful way.
At the end of the boardwalk, you will find a small museum which displays the multiple flora and fauna found in the wetlands. Some parts are interactive, so it’ll be a great break for the kids! There is also an exclusive gift shop inside with plush animals and other unique items from Inner Mongolia.

What kind of experience is it in the yurt weekend? Unlock the summer new experience
on the second night of the Hulun Buir grassland, my mother and I live in the yurt. This is probably the easiest house to build in the world: in the old days, it consisted of skylights, wood poles and walls, in a three-stage structure. High and small size, freely retractable, no burden to relocate.
Now, a few hundred years have passed, "When you are a room, the felt is a wall, and the meat is used as a pulp for the meat." Inner Mongolia has rarely seen the original residence. More, it is a "imitation" made of brick and tile cement.
Fortunately, where we live, there are still traces of authentic life. For example, open the skylight to see the stars, ride the gallops on the prairie, and around the campfire, come to a local dance party.
Tips: By the end of July to the beginning of September, the accommodation experience of the yurt is in short supply. If you are interested in living here, be sure to book in advance, per capita 200 ~ 350 yuan / night. After dinner, you can take part in some local experiences, such as wrestling contests, milking, night star watching, and more.

Hulunbuir Grasslands Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
A Comprehensive Guide to Taking Kids to Hulunbuir During Summer Vacation
Get up close and personal with nature
🎉🎉Just back from Hulunbuir, where the blue sky, white clouds, and green grasslands create a picturesque scene with cattle and sheep grazing as the wind blows. July and August are the most beautiful months for the grasslands. For a summer vacation with kids, Hulunbuir is definitely an ideal destination! 🎉🎉
🚗🚗About the way to travel: Generally, it involves chartered cars, self-driving, or joining a tour group. For first-timers, I recommend hiring a local guide with a car. There are several reasons: many places on the grassland have no signal, and only local drivers know the way; compared to the fixed schedule of bus tours, chartered cars offer more freedom for kids, stop whenever you want, and do whatever you want to do.
🌈🌈Recommended itinerary:
D1: ✈Arrive at Hailar Airport—Rest at hotel—Taste local cuisine
D2: Hailar—Grassland crossing—Morigele River—Ergun (Asia's largest wetland)
D3: Ergun—Birch Forest—Enhe Russian Ethnic Township—Shiwei (feed reindeer, river cruise)
D4: Shiwei—K-line (China-Russia border highway)—Heishantou (horse riding, milking cows, feeding lambs)
D5: Heishantou—Zhalainuoer Museum—Mammoth Park—Matryoshka Square (Manzhouli)
D6 Manzhouli—National Gate Scenic Area—Hulun Lake—Home
🔥🔥Activities kids must experience:
1⃣ Horse riding on the grassland, feeling the thrill of galloping. 2⃣ Milking cows, getting up close with the grassland life, and feeling the charm of dairy cows. 3⃣ Feeding lambs, interacting closely with small animals, kids will definitely love it. 4⃣ Staying in a Mongolian yurt, experiencing the life of grassland herders, and feeling a different charm. 5⃣ Checking in at the Matryoshka hotel, enjoying the Russian style. 6⃣ Grass sliding, experiencing the exciting and fun activity on the grassland.
🍔🍔About food: The cuisine of Hulunbuir is also a highlight. Don't worry about kids not being used to the food, they will really enjoy the hearty meals there! The beef and mutton are so delicious, and you can also experience authentic Russian cuisine in Manzhouli.
👗👗About clothing: The temperature difference between morning and evening on the grassland is significant, so it's advisable to bring a windbreaker. You can wear normal short-sleeved T-shirts at noon, and sunscreen is also very important!
Overall, this trip offered a glimpse of the grasslands and forests, an experience of the herders' life on the grassland, and a taste of exotic cultures, truly a fulfilling experience!

🍃Endless grasslands, blue skies with white clouds, and herds of cattle and sheep, it's like a fairy tale world from a Miyazaki movie! People should stay in places without ceilings~ Summer is the most beautiful season on the Hulunbuir grasslands. This year, I went to the Hulunbuir grasslands again before the busy season in June, thanks to the local guides, who showed me a different Hulunbuir~

⚠️ 'Important Notes'
Sun Protection: The UV rays on the grassland are strong, so be sure to protect and moisturize your skin.

Food: Roasted whole lamb, Northeastern stew, lamb chops, hot pot, hand-grabbed meat, milk tofu, milk tea... Don't miss out on the specialty foods! The portions are quite large!
Transportation: It is recommended to hire a car for a free and comfortable journey. Find reliable locals to guide you, and you'll see many different beautiful scenes, with fewer people and more beauty, for a full experience!
Milk: Drink local fresh milk in moderation, as it is not skimmed and drinking too much may upset your stomach.
When horse riding, be sure to go to a regular horse farm for safety first, don't be tempted by cheap roadside offers; drones are not allowed to fly and take pictures along the border line.

🔥Hulunbuir Delicacies
🌟 Whole Roasted Lamb: A centuries-old Inner Mongolian traditional delicacy, historically served to honor distinguished guests from afar.
🌟 Hand-grabbed Meat: Made from mutton, named for the large chunks of meat that are torn by hand when eating, it has a distinctive ethnic flavor and is deliciously rich.
🌟 Grilled Beef and Mutton Skewers: The meat is firm and flavorful, and Inner Mongolian mutton does not have a gamey taste, just grill and flaunt it.
🌟 Inner Mongolian Milk Tea: Made by boiling milk tea with ingredients like beefsteak, minced meat, cheese, and dried meat, all simmered together.
🏞 Accommodation Guide
⭕️ Hailar Accommodation
If you are traveling independently, it is recommended to stay near the Hailar train station. This makes travel convenient, as it is easy and inexpensive to take a taxi within the city.
⭕️ Manzhouli Accommodation
Hotels in the Manzhouli city area are a bit old. The Matryoshka Hotel is not really recommended during the peak tourist season, as it's too expensive and not cost-effective. It is suggested to choose a Russian-style hotel for a good experience at a reasonable price.
⭕️ Heishantou Accommodation
Heishantou is mainly Mongolian yurts. When booking, make sure to compare prices, as they can vary greatly. Definitely book in advance during the peak season.
⭕️ Shiwei Accommodation
Shiwei accommodations are typically wooden houses, with generally basic conditions but quite characteristic.
✈️ Transportation Guide
① Hailar Dongshan Airport: 13 kilometers from the city center, a 10-minute airport shuttle ride will get you to the city, and it departs as soon as it's full, which is very convenient.
② Manzhouli West Suburb Airport: Manzhouli Airport does not have an airport shuttle, and taxis generally do not use meters. The one-way fare between the airport and the city center ranges from 30 to 50 yuan.
③ Hailar Railway Station: You can choose to first take a train or plane to Harbin or Beijing, and then from Beijing or Harbin take a train to Hailar.

🙋🏻♀Today, I have compiled a detailed Hulunbuir travel guide for everyone, focusing on being comprehensive, detailed, and considerate. Friends planning to depart for Hulunbuir in 2024 can rest assured 🐎
👉️6-Day Itinerary Planning👉️
🔥D1: Hailar, the pearl of the grassland, gather for free activities - Grassland hotpot - Hulunbuir City Museum - Ancient City🌈
🔥D2: Traverse the hinterland of the grassland - Morin Dawa picnic - Erguna Wetland - Make Russian bread - Erguna City🌈
🔥D3: Erguna - Birch Forest Scenic Area - Sunset at the China-Russia border river Erguna River - Shiwei Russian Ethnic Township🌈
🔥D4: Shiwei - Border checkpoint line - Tai Chi diagram - Horse riding - Mongolian yurt camp - Bonfire party🌈

🔥D6: Matryoshka amusement park - Mongolian horseback riding performance - Balhu Grassland - Hailar - Return trip🌈
Essential items:
1. A single windbreaker, long sleeves, long pants, cold medicine 💊, mosquito repellent, hat, sunglasses, and the rest can be normal summer short sleeves, skirts. Sports shoes. Sandals are not recommended, as there is a lot of dust on the grassland.
Also, when many friends choose a destination, they make the wrong choice. Hulunbuir and Hohhot are not the same place, although both are in Inner Mongolia, but they are more than 2000 kilometers apart. Remember to check the destination clearly.
2. Hulunbuir hotel accommodations are very mature. Wooden lodges, Mongolian yurts, all have independent bathrooms, and you can take a shower.
Choose wooden lodges with good sound insulation and views. Choose Mongolian yurts on the grassland rather than in the yard. It is recommended to rely on actual hotel photos to avoid discrepancies.
3. Avoid overly commercialized scenic areas. Friends understand this❗
4. It is recommended to rent a car for a free journey. Because Hulunbuir is sparsely populated, it is a real deep dive into the grassland, not just checking in at scenic spots and running on the roads every day.
5. Free travel allows you to stop and play as you go, crossing uninhabited areas to experience the life of the pastoral area, running on the vast Hulunbuir grassland. Deeply traverse birch forests, wetlands, forests, grasslands. Not just checking in at scenic spots, seeing only people, and having to queue even for a photo. This is not called traveling.
6. Waking up early every day, taking a car, checking in at scenic spots. Eating, resting at the hotel. This is called joining a tour group, not free travel.
7. Real free travel is not rushed, you decide what time to get up and when to depart, the schedule is flexible, you stop wherever you like, with no time constraints, no fixed locations. There is no need to pursue checking in at scenic spots.
⚠️Travel tips
1. The temperature difference between day and night is quite large, wear a jacket at night to keep warm
2. There are many mosquitoes on the grassland, mosquito repellent is a must-have~
3. The ultraviolet rays are strong on the grassland~ Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat
4. The most beautiful time in Hulunbuir is from June to August, and the scenery is beautiful with fewer people in mid-June~
Hulunbuir grassland, is the distant place in someone's dream, let us embark on this wonderful journey together~✈
A reliable pure play group is worth having! More routes can be DD oh~🌹㊗ Everyone have fun in Hulunbuir^_^^_^^_^

Shi Wei Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
When China meets Russia Part 2: Shi Wei
Shi Wei village has been voted one of the top ten villages in China and you can see why. 😍 Shi Wei lies next to the Erguna river which separates China and Russia.
It is quaint and charming and the locals are extremely hospitable.
During the day you can walk through the village or rent a bike to move around faster. There is a small port at the end of the board walk where you can get a boat to go up and down the river. 🚢
You can also visit the raspberry and blueberry farm and check out the reindeers there. 🫐
Visit in the evening to find the village hopping with bbqs and tours it’s taking in the sights.
