I am a keen walker and outdoor enthusiast. Whilst I have not completed the whole route I have walked different sections of the path over the years. Starting in Minehead Somerset and ending in Poole Dorset. The trail stretches for 630 miles or 1014 km and encompasses a wide range of places to explore and visit from picturesque villages such as Clovelly, Lynton and Lynmouth in Devon to the rugged windswept surfing beaches of Bude and Perranporth. Conversely the North Devon coast contrasts with the South coast. The former involves a lot of ups and downs being more hilly than its counterpart. Therefore a reasonable level of fitness is required to complete the various sections of the coast path in good time. A fast walker can complete the whole 630 miles in around 30 days, but a more leisurely pace with time to stop to see some of the sights is between 7-8 weeks. I walked a short section on this trip from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren. From Starcross you can get the ferry to Exmouth (cash only).

We travelled to Exeter for a night at the Indigo Hotel slap bang in the middle of the city centre and opposite Exeter Cathedral, we had a lovely king room which was bright ,clean and modern , we also had a complimentary mini bar with soft drinks and a lovely bathroom with power shower . When we arrived the staff greeted us with friendliness and I couldn’t fault the service and amenities in the hotel at all , the hotel has 104 guest rooms all with fabulously comfy Hypnos beds with luxury Egyptian cotton , spa inspired bathrooms , Nespresso coffee machines , air conditioning, high speed Wi-Fi and a variety of channels on your 40’’flat screen TV. The Hotel also boasts a Spa , Gym , Restaurant and Bar and a sky Bar overlooking the Cathedral Green and the city of Exeter … Exeter Quay is 10min walk south from the hotel which has some lovely walks , bars , restaurants and antique boutiques and galleries ,and if your after something to do for free the Royal Albert Memorial Museum is the place which offers a million strong collection of which 8000 pieces are on display at a time shows a myriad of influences that made Exeter what it is today , from Roman tiles , Norman kings and discover Devon’s and Exeters rich history and global connections , be delighted by colourful animals , birds and insects ,contemporary art and travel the globe in world culture galleries . Leading me to a comfortable and tasteful seat, I was ready for a wonderful afternoon tea experience. The afternoon tea tray consists of three layers, each layer has different snacks and drinks. I started at the top and found French macarons and mango juice. I picked up the cup of mango juice and took a sip. The juice was fresh and delicious, with the sweet scent of mango. However, when I tasted the macaron, I found it a little too sweet and might be more suitable for people who like desserts. Next is the second floor, which is filled with various styles of cup cakes and small cakes. I tried one of the cupcakes and they were on the sweet side but that's one of the characteristics of British desserts. If you have a sweet tooth, these treats will definitely satisfy your taste buds. Finally, I came to the first floor, which is the world of salty snacks. There were all kinds of sandwiches on display here, and I couldn't help swallowing. I chose a sandwich with smoked salmon and cream cheese and it definitely didn't disappoint. Every bite was filled with a delicious combination that left me wanting more. A lovely mix of old, classic buildings and new carbuncles. Ruined by the smackheads and alkys roaming the city. If you go to see the old medieval bridge over the Exe, near Stepcote Hill, beware of the druggie encampment that we stumbled upon.

Just spent the best day at Haldon Forest, nestled right on the edge of Dartmoor in gorgeous Devon, South West England—and y’all, this place is a whole VIBE in the summer! 🌞 If you’re craving fresh air and epic scenery, Haldon Forest delivers big time. Endless trails wind through lush woodland, making it perfect for hiking, cycling, or even just chill family walks (dog-friendly too, obvs 🐕). The sunlight filters through the tall green trees and it’s honestly cinematic. Location basics: Haldon Forest Park, Bullers Hill, Kennford, Exeter EX6 7XR, UK Opening hours: Daily, 8am–6pm (but check before you go, especially in winter!) Don’t miss the Go Ape treetop adventure if you’re feeling brave (or wanna impress your Insta followers 😏). There are picnic spots EVERYWHERE, plus a cute on-site café—grab a coffee or ice cream and just vibe. Bonus tip: You can hire a bike on-site if you don’t have your own, so no excuses! The forest is super easy to reach by car from Exeter, and parking is a breeze. If you’re in Devon in summer, do yourself a favour and spend a day here.
