🏜️ Goldfield Ghost Town & Mine Tour: Wild West Thrills 🤠💥
Just outside Phoenix, Goldfield isn’t just an old ghost town—it’s a full-blown time machine back to the Wild West 🐎🔫. Wooden boardwalks creak under your boots, the smell of dust and gunpowder hangs in the air, and everywhere you turn there’s a saloon, a mine shaft, or a cowboy ready to duel 🌵🍺.
But here’s the wild part… 💀 That day, I signed up for a mine tour thinking it would be a calm stroll. Halfway down, the lights flickered, the guide grinned, and suddenly a deafening bang echoed through the tunnels 💥. We were “under attack” in a staged outlaw raid—actors shouting, fake dynamite smoke filling the narrow shaft, my heart racing at 200 bpm. I ended up crouching behind an old ore cart, laughing and coughing at the same time, feeling like I was in a Hollywood set 🎬🔥.
Once back outside, the Arizona sun hit like a blast furnace ☀️, and I rewarded myself with sarsaparilla in the saloon while watching a staged gunfight on Main Street. If you want history plus adrenaline, Goldfield will give you both—and maybe make you part of the show 😉.

Views from the Top at Picacho Summit
#hellonewyear Picacho Summit in Arizona is a fantastic spot for hikers looking for a rewarding climb with stunning views. The trail is moderately challenging, winding through desert landscapes dotted with cacti and desert shrubs. As you ascend, the scenery opens up, revealing sweeping vistas of valleys, rugged hills, and distant mountains. The summit itself is an incredible payoff, offering panoramic views that stretch for miles and perfect photo opportunities. Along the trail, wildlife like lizards, birds, and small mammals can be spotted, adding life to the arid surroundings. Sunrise or sunset makes the desert colors pop, creating a truly magical experience. Great weekend getaway for North American workers in Arizona
Working hard for five days straight, the weekend is the most anticipated time! Recently, I discovered a weekend recharge haven near Phx:
📍Two attractions are next to each other, a 50-minute drive from Tempe.
1️⃣🏡Goldfield Ghost Town: A gold rush town from the last century, now transformed into a quintessential Western-style tourist destination. There are many activities: gunfight shows, mine tours, scenic train rides, gold panning experiences, horseback riding, ziplining, etc.
🔫The gunfight shows are free, held every hour from 12 pm to 4 pm, each with a different storyline. The actors are dressed in Western cowboy attire, creating a great atmosphere.
🏗️Mine tours are guided tours of the former gold mine site, with staff explaining the work processes and stories of the time.
My favorite activity was panning for gold myself. You put gold-bearing sand in a basin, add water, shake, and use gravity to separate the sand. The gold is what you see at the bottom of the basin.
🍔The town has American fast food; the fries and ice cream are delicious!
2️⃣⛰️Lost Dutchman State Park
This park charges per person, not per vehicle. A day pass is $10 per person.
⚠️The car gates close at 8 pm, so you won't be able to leave.
The park is beautiful, with vast cactus fields and mountain views.
I saw couples proposing and people taking graduation photos. There are many hiking trails in the park, ranging from 1 to 6 hours. The sunset views from the mountaintop are fantastic, especially the Aztec vibe 🌵🌇🏜️

The Biosph
The Biosphere 2 research facility near Tucson, Arizona, USA. My experience here, with its snow-capped mountains visible in the distant desert, the crimson sunset, and the star-filled night sky, was a precious opportunity to reflect calmly on the value of humanity's existence and its rationale.

Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch|A Must-Visit Fun Animal Feeding Guide in Tucson
Let me share a super interesting spot in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Initially, I didn’t have high expectations, thinking it would be just like any other zoo. But after visiting, I highly recommend it! 🤩
🐰 Animal Highlights and Interactive Experiences
The ranch features over a dozen animals you can feed, but the following are particularly special:
🔸 Ostriches: A whole row of ostriches you can feed up close. It’s a fun interaction, but be careful as they can be quick and might hurt you if you’re not fast enough! 😆
🔸 Tortoises: Staff will give you a small piece of celery to feed them. Each tortoise has a name, and they’re absolutely adorable! 😍
🔸 Parrots: They’ll perch on your head or hand, making for great photo opportunities.
🔸 Stingrays: This is truly unique!!! It’s rare to get such a close-up, hands-on feeding experience elsewhere. The sound they make while eating is loud and surprising, making it both exciting and fun! This was my favorite feeding experience. 🩵
Of course, there are other cute animals as well!
🎟️ Practical Information
Tickets and Costs: Tickets can be purchased on-site for around $15-17, which includes food for various animals. Feeding stingrays requires an additional fee.
Transportation Tips: Driving is the most convenient option, and there’s parking available near the ranch.
It’s recommended to wear sneakers, as the sandy ground can make your toes dirty if you wear sandals.
If you have the chance, you must visit! It’s super worth it and offers great value for money!

Cool cowboy town from the wild wild west
#postandearn
This place is really cool. Kids get a chance to go into a mine shaft and pan for gold. There's a lot to look at and walking. If you love history, this is a must see.
There are lots of mining artifacts that are really cool. We did the tour of the mine shaft and Matt was our tour guide. The guides give you facts about mining and I learned things that i didn't already know. It is worth the money.
There are places to eat and shop. If you love to shop you'll enjoy what the shops offer. I purchased beautiful pottery pieces for my family. (Cactus Ornaments)
We went on a Sunday and the church is still used for services and they rang the church bell by hand to announce the service was starting. That was neat. Definitely check this place out. We spent 2 hours here.

Siphon Draw Trail to Flatiron: A Challenging Hike with Rewarding Views
#hikingtrails
The Siphon Draw Trail leading to the summit of Flatiron in Arizona's Superstition Mountains offers one of the most challenging yet rewarding hiking experiences in the region. Known for its rugged terrain and steep inclines, this trail is a must-try for serious hikers seeking a true adventure in the wilderness.
Steep Ascents and Rugged Terrain
The trail begins relatively easy but quickly intensifies as hikers approach the Siphon Draw. The path becomes steeper and more rugged, involving rocky scrambles and steep gradients that require good physical condition and careful footing. The most challenging part of the hike is the final ascent to the Flatiron summit, where the trail becomes less defined and hikers must navigate through large boulders and loose rocks.
Spectacular Panoramic Views
The strenuous journey up Siphon Draw is well worth the effort, as it culminates in spectacular panoramic views from the top of Flatiron. Hikers are rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the Superstition Wilderness and the surrounding desert landscape. The peak offers a stunning vantage point to appreciate the vast beauty of the area, making it a perfect spot for a rest and some memorable photos.
Preparation is Key
Due to the trail's difficulty, it is essential for hikers to come well-prepared. Proper hiking boots with good grip are necessary to navigate the slippery sections of the trail safely. It is also advisable to start the hike early in the morning to avoid the intense midday heat and to ensure enough time to complete the hike before dusk.
Visitor Tips
- Carry Plenty of Water: The Arizona climate can be unforgiving, and there are no water sources along the trail. Bring ample water to stay hydrated throughout the hike.
- Check Weather Conditions: Be aware of the weather forecast, as sudden changes can make the steep parts of the trail dangerous.
- Hike in Groups: Due to the trail's challenges, it's safer and more enjoyable to hike with companions.
- Leave No Trace: Preserve the natural beauty of the wilderness by packing out all trash and staying on designated trails.

🥵 Lesson Learnt: Dont go Lost Dutchman State Park during summer
#outdooradventure
Lost Dutchman State Park, nestled in the heart of Arizona near the Superstition Mountains, offers a stunning showcase of the American Southwest's natural beauty. Famous for its sprawling landscapes dotted with giant saguaro cacti, this state park is a photographer's dream, especially for those looking to capture the quintessential image of towering cacti set against dramatic desert backdrops.
Stunning Desert Scenery
The park is named after the fabled Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine, adding an element of mystery and allure to its already captivating terrain. The giant saguaro cactus, a symbol of the Arizona desert, dominates the landscape here. These majestic plants, some reaching over 40 feet tall, provide not only a unique photographic opportunity but also a striking reminder of the harsh, beautiful conditions of the desert.
Photographer’s Paradise
Visitors armed with cameras find endless inspiration in Lost Dutchman State Park. The early morning and late afternoon light casts incredible shadows and highlights on the desert floor, enhancing the texture and contours of the saguaros and the surrounding mountains. Sunset brings a fiery glow to the sky, creating a perfect backdrop for silhouetted cactus shots, which are iconic to the Arizona landscape.
Tips for Visitors
- Best Time for Photos: Plan to visit during the golden hours—shortly after sunrise or before sunset—when the light is soft and warm for the most dramatic photos.
- Stay on Designated Paths: While it might be tempting to venture close to these giant cacti, it's important to respect the park rules and stay on designated paths to protect both yourself and the natural environment.
- Bring Proper Gear: The desert can be harsh, so wear appropriate clothing, bring plenty of water, and don't forget your hat and sunscreen. For photography, a tripod can be helpful for those perfect shots, especially in lower light conditions.
