2026 Forrest Travel Guide: must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transport & travel experiences (updated in July)

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with friendly faces, warm smiles, and a heartfelt welcome—plus, my esky (ice box) was even carried upstairs to my room! The room was more than adequate for my 3-night stay, equipped with a kettle, toaster, hair dryer, and a delightful hot ‘halo’ shower. Everything was spotless, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—quite a treat for a motel. It also had electric blankets (though I didn’t use them) and an eastern-facing view that provided stunning sunrises. The location was perfect—just a short walk to an excellent variety of restaurants and cafés, and a bit farther to attractions like the National Gallery. Despite being so centrally located, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the area was, which was definitely a relief. I found it to be real value for money, especially given how easy it was to walk to so many places, depending on your mobility and fitness. Forrest Motel & Apartments had a wonderful atmosphere overall. The staff seemed genuinely happy, a reflection of how well the proprietors run the business. I’ve been a regular guest at Forrest Hotel & Apartments since December 2022, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every visit, whether staying in the Queen Motel Rooms or the Apartments. Daily room service is provided, even on weekends and public holidays. The reception is open for over 12 hours each day, with staff always ready to help. Rooms come with split air conditioning, Smart TVs, and reliable WiFi. There’s free parking and a BBQ area. On weekdays outside public holidays, the on-site restaurant offers both dine-in and room service options. Conveniently located near the Parliamentary Triangle, Manuka Shops, Kingston, and Bus Depot Markets, this family-owned property ensures guests always feel welcome.

Canberra is truly a haven for those who enjoy a slow-paced, artsy lifestyle! Why? Because it boasts numerous bookstores, wide and quiet streets, and expansive museums—it's a paradise for introverts❣️❣️❣️❣️ From Sydney, you can take a direct bus to Canberra's city center in just 3 hours👍🏻😉. Once there, I hopped on a scooter and headed straight to the National Museum of Australia in Canberra. It didn’t take long to explore, but there were plenty of exhibitions about Australia’s development in the 70s and 80s. Outside the museum, there’s a serene lakeside area where you can enjoy a coffee and relax😌😌😌. Canberra isn’t very big, so getting around on a scooter is super convenient. I headed straight to my accommodation, a motel called Forrest Hotel and Apartments. It was clean and tidy, the caretaker was very friendly, and the price was reasonable—highly recommended. One must-visit spot in Canberra is the Australian Parliament House, one of the few parliamentary buildings in the world that allows public access. I toured the Senate, the House of Representatives, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch a live parliamentary session! Stayed here for a night after a pleasant visit before. The room was fine, clean, quite comfy, and mostly quiet. There was a small kitchenette, which was a nice addition, though I only used it to make coffee. My sole gripe is the parking situation—spots are scarce and get taken fast. After I went out for dinner and returned, I ended up parking along the drive. Either there aren't sufficient spots per room, or guests are bringing multiple cars per room.

A very interesting place with the combination of fun activities like an escape room and a nice rustic Café. The food was very mediocre since the composition does not consistently have exceptional taste behind it. But my friend's and me had breakfast, which wasn’t too complex in the making. But I would like to highlight service and location as it is still the effort that counts. Reflecting to that it might not suit our taste but probably would suit someone else more. Having said so they had several foreign beers that we tried and their cakes during two of our visits. #australiatrip #brunch #couplestrip
