It wasn't until I strolled past Lake Burley Griffin, near the National Library of Australia, that I realized the autumn foliage around here is already absolutely stunning. The most fascinating part is that there isn't a designated maple-viewing forest. Instead, the autumn leaves are simply scattered along the lakefront, across the lawns, and bordering the streets. Some trees have turned a deep, vibrant red, others are lingering in golden yellow, and quite a few are still holding onto their green. This blend of different hues actually creates much more depth than a monotonous sweep of entirely red foliage. The lake setting makes these colors pop even more. The crimson, golden, and emerald trees cast their reflections on Lake Burley Griffin. Framed by an expansive sky in the distance and free of overly manicured landscapes, the whole scene offers an incredibly soothing sense of space. I think there's something genuinely special about the autumn leaves in Canberra: It's not the kind of attraction you have to go out of your way just to snap a "check-in" photo. You might just be taking a leisurely walk by the water or passing by the National Library, and suddenly, you'll notice the surrounding trees have changed their coats. The Truffle Farm was one of the highlights of my Canberra trip. It was easy to find using Google Maps, and the drive from Canberra city took only about 20–25 minutes, making it a perfect half-day excursion. The farm is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful countryside and oak trees. Even if you don't join the truffle hunt, it's still worth visiting. The staff were welcoming and happy to explain the fresh truffles and the different products they make. My favourite purchases were the Truffle Gin and Truffle Vodka. At A$90 per bottle, I thought they were excellent value for a premium local product with a distinctive truffle flavour. I also highly recommend the truffle cheese (A$35), which was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The shop offers a great range of gourmet products, and the modern tasting room is spacious and comfortable with beautiful views across the farm. It's a lovely place to relax, browse, and enjoy the countryside. If you're visiting Canberra in winter, I definitely recommend adding The Truffle Farm to your itinerary. Our two-night stay was nothing short of fantastic. Upon arrival, I went to reception to check in, and the staff there was remarkable. He explained the parking situation and directed us on where everything was, including the dining area for breakfast. We stayed in the Atrium room, which was spacious and incredibly comfortable. When we entered our luxurious bathroom, it was modern and large enough to get lost in, featuring two showers and an oversized bath. The amenities like shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and the like were top-notch and had wonderful scents. The bed was one of the best we've ever slept on, quite impressive given our travels to places like New York City and Chicago. So comfortable that I asked the staff for the brand to purchase one for home. The breakfast each morning was also outstanding—definitely worth it. We have every intention of returning, without a doubt.
