Animal Flower Cave is one of the most famous attractions in Barbados. This spot is considered a must-visit for all tourists. Entrance to the cave costs $20 per person. As for the cave itself... Let's just say it's small and might not seem particularly interesting at first glance, but! It has unique features that draw visitors here. Firstly, this is a sea cave. It's a large chamber located right in the cliff by the ocean, where waves fill the cave's pool with water during high tide. In the past, the cave was at sea level, but over time, Barbados "rose," and now it looks like a large window in the middle of the cliff. The view is stunning: you can swim in the underground pool while gazing out through a huge window that offers a view of the ocean and neighboring cliffs. And all of this was created by nature itself! Secondly, the cave is home to fascinating creatures—predatory flowers (a type of sea anemone). You can see one of these flowers in the photo. When sensing danger or potential food, it quickly "closes up." Of course, we tested it with a finger, and it turned out the flower is so delicate that the touch is barely noticeable—it feels almost weightless! How this creature manages to eat anything is a mystery to me 😁 By the way, it's said that there used to be significantly more of these flowers in the cave, but their numbers have greatly decreased over time. It was a very interesting experience! The only downside is that the place is quite touristy, with new groups being brought in every half hour, so you can't stay there for long. In any case, it's incredibly beautiful and picturesque! I highly recommend visiting 🥰

In Barbados, don't miss visiting Hunte's Gardens. Hunte's Gardens is a vibrant and cozy spot in Barbados 🇧🇧 This place is perfect for all nature and flower enthusiasts! Personally, I love such gardens and parks filled with greenery and colorful bushes. However, I would prefer a more secluded park without crowds of tourists and, ideally, free of charge ☺️ But setting aside its popularity among visitors, it's a fantastic place! Back in the 1990s, Anthony Hunte purchased 10 acres of land, which was previously a sugarcane plantation, with the goal of creating a true garden featuring a wide variety of tropical plants (now there are over 84 species). I must say, his vision was a success. The garden is also adorned with various sculptures, walking paths, and benches for relaxation. Truly a paradise! Additionally, there are very tall palm trees there (almost like the ones we saw in the Cocora Valley in Colombia). The property also includes Hunte's residence, a beautiful colonial-style house with antique furniture. You can explore it like a museum and get a glimpse into the past. There's also a café and a souvenir shop on-site. There are indeed plenty of plants and flowers, all bright and beautiful! I decided to dedicate a separate post to showcase close-up shots of the flowers, knowing I have followers who love seeing more of this ☺️ If you plan to visit Hunte's Gardens on your own without a tour, be prepared to pay $25 USD for entry. However, there are no time restrictions, allowing you to fully enjoy the experience and even cuddle the friendly ginger cat that lives there 🐈

Harrison's Cave is undoubtedly one of the most famous tourist destinations in Barbados 🇧🇧. This stunning limestone cave is not only breathtaking but also quite pricey, with an entrance fee of $65 USD. The reason for the high cost is that visitors cannot explore the cave on their own; access is only possible through organized tours. These tours take you through the cave's long corridors on a small tram while narrating its history and making occasional stops for photos. Although we were eager to visit, the price was a bit steep for us. Luckily, blogging came to the rescue (it truly is a rewarding job!). We managed to join a tour for free, which included not only Harrison's Cave but also a botanical garden (more on that in another post). Safety first! Upon entering the cave, visitors are required to wear disposable caps and helmets. Now, about the cave itself—it’s absolutely incredible! Massive, beautiful, and filled with numerous "streets," lakes, and even underground waterfalls! It was my first time seeing waterfalls inside a cave. Capturing good photos was challenging due to the darkness and humidity, but I think the pictures turned out stunning nonetheless 🥰. The first mentions of Harrison's Cave date back to 1795, but it wasn’t thoroughly explored until the late 20th century. It was officially opened to the public in 1981. Harrison's Cave is one of the largest limestone caves in the Caribbean, and its most impressive chamber, the Great Hall, is among the largest underground halls in the region. The stalactites and stalagmites inside are truly remarkable—varying in shapes, colors, and even textures. They are incredibly beautiful and unique. Overall, we were thrilled with our visit to the cave, especially since it was free ☺️. Upon exiting, we asked the staff for other attractions to explore and learned about a bird park nearby. Keep in mind that the ticket includes access to more than just the cave. Unfortunately, the bird park wasn’t part of our organized tour, so we were soon called back to the vehicle to stick to the schedule and head to the botanical garden. Meet Bridgetown! Here, you'll find a small and charming historic center with preserved old houses. Along the coastline, there are luxurious and beautiful hotels, such as the famous Hilton, which boasts its own private azure beach and even a lighthouse right in its backyard! On the other side of the hotel lies the old Fort Charles, established in 1650 and now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort is clean and well-maintained, no wonder it's located near such a prestigious hotel. And it's free! We thoroughly enjoyed wandering around there. The city also has St. Patrick's Church, featuring windows shaped like my favorite four-leaf clovers. Unfortunately, the church was closed, but we had a lovely time strolling through the small cemetery on its grounds. Overall, Bridgetown is a port city. It's small but uniquely beautiful, with little white yachts and massive cruise liners bringing happy retirees from the US and Canada. The water is clean and turquoise, even in the port! Can you imagine? Among the docked yachts, large sea turtles swim around! I hope you’ve also gotten a pleasant first impression of the city 🥰
