Hiking here is not too difficult, though it does require some effort, but every step is rewarded with incredible scenery. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views that stretch across the mountains, making it a perfect spot for photography or simply taking in the beauty. The air is crisp, the atmosphere calm, and the sense of being high above everything else is unforgettable. Col de Madamète is an ideal choice for nature lovers and hikers who want a mix of adventure and serene mountain charm in Occitanie.

#summervacay Spent the day exploring Pont d’Espagne and wow, this place is straight out of a storybook. It's tucked away in the Pyrenees near Cauterets, and it’s all rushing waterfalls, stone bridges, pine forests, and mountain vibes. You don’t even have to hike far to get amazing views, the bridge itself sits right over this dramatic waterfall that makes you go “whoa” the second you see it. There are tons of walking paths around, some super chill and others more adventurous if you're feeling energetic. We took our time, snapped a bunch of pics, and just soaked in the peaceful, misty mountain air. It’s the kind of place that feels super magical even when it's cloudy. You can grab a cable car up to go further into the mountains or just hang near the main area if you're short on time. Either way, it’s gorgeous. If you love nature, waterfalls, and easy forest wanderings, Pont d’Espagne is totally worth the trip.

#summervacayLago de Gaube (or Lac de Gaube, if you’re feelin’ fancy) is straight-up nature goals. We took the cable car up from Cauterets and then did a short hike to the lake, super chill, not too hard, and totally worth every step. The views? Unreal. Like, crystal-clear turquoise water surrounded by snow-dusted peaks. It felt like we were in a postcard or some magical fantasy movie. We found a little spot by the shore to sit and just… vibe. The air was fresh, birds were chirping, and the whole place had this peaceful, untouched feel to it. Some people were even picnicking or dipping their feet in, but warning: that water is cold. If you’re into nature but not into full on crazy hikes, this place hits the sweet spot. Easy access, jaw-dropping scenery, and just a whole lot of peace and pretty. Definitely one of my fave spots in the Pyrenees. Bring snacks, take your time, and enjoy the mountain magic.
