HULL: Yorkshire Day Trip ideas with itinerary
#postandearn
I visited Hull earlier this month; it took 2 hours go get there via a direct train from Manchester Victoria. If you're looking for a hidden gem, Hull is definitely worth a visit.
In the morning:
🛍 Take a stroll through the town centre, visit one of Hull's many shopping centre's and visit Paragon Arcade for breakfast in a cozy cafe ☕️
⛵️ Visit Hull's maritime museum to learn more about the area's history and the importance of the River Humber. It is currently under renovation, expected to open in early 2026 🏗
📸 Take some pictures at Victoria Square, with the charming architecture of the City Hall and plentiful statues 🗽
In the afternoon:
🌉 Take a walk to Hull waterfront. There is plenty to see and do here: The Deep aquarium is packed. Or if you prefer more walking, head towards the Humber Bridge and (if you're brave) walk across 🏃♂️
🍻 For lunch/dinner, take a look at one of the many independent restaurants or bars near the waterfront🎨
⛪️ For a bit more history, visit Hull Minster. Located in Hull's old town, the surrounding area is gorgeous. Entry is free 💸

The Deep UK
The Deep, Hull, UK
A great day out for the family or passing of time. Emmerse yourself in giant tanks with many different species.
See history throughout from fossils, to extinct and current species, and follow the timeline handrail as you venture through the information plaques and creatures of the sea world.
Get your fill of penguin life and touch the ice wall as you walk through to see them!
Take a break and enjoy a packed lunch or purchase something to eat/drink from the half way cafe. Facilities can be found throughout The Deep, and at the entrance/exit as you enter the gift shop.

Zeebrugge Port Container Crane Skyline Industrial Gape
#arrivalguide Everyone goes to Bruges for the swans and the canals, but I took a detour to Zeebrugge, Belgium’s massive port, and it was one of the most visually arresting arrivals of my trip. I took the coastal tram (Kusttram)—a brilliant €8 day pass that runs the entire Belgian coast—and got off at the Zeebrugge-Strand stop. From the beach, the view is surreal: miles of golden sand abruptly meeting a horizon dominated by colossal red container cranes. It looks like a futuristic metropolis rising from the dunes. I walked toward the port entrance, the air thickening with the smell of salt and diesel. The sheer scale of the ships—some the length of the Eiffel Tower laid on its side—made me feel insignificant. I found a concrete breakwater to sit on and just watched the cranes move with robotic precision. A local fisherman joined me, baiting his hooks. He told me that most tourists hate the industrial view, but he loves it because "it pays the bills." I bought a pack of cigarettes from a nearby kiosk (€7.50—smoking is still common here) and shared one with him as we watched a ferry depart for Hull, UK. It was a raw, unglamorous moment that contrasted sharply with the chocolate-box charm of inland Belgium. It made me question our obsession with "pretty" travel photos. Is there value in appreciating the industrial arteries of a country? Have you ever had a travel experience where the "ugly" or industrial side of a place fascinated you more than the curated tourist zones?

🐟🐠The Deep, Hull🐡🐙
My absolute favourite destination for a day in the city is The Deep in Hull. Its enormous tanks—the largest holding 2.5 million litres of water—host over 3,500 animals, making it the outstanding choice for an enjoyable outing, and each ticket includes a year pass that offers excellent value. #hullthedeep #aquarium #uktrip

A great day out in Hull. Rather than going in the scenic lift, take the stairs and about 2 flights up, the sharks, turtles and other fish pass by the viewing deck frequently.

HULL
Spent the day exploring Kingston upon Hull and honestly didn’t expect it to have this much character. Wandered through the Old Town’s cobbled streets, checked out cool spots like Streetlife Museum of Transport, then headed over to the marina for some amazing seafood. The highlight had to be The Deep—super impressive and worth the visit. Finished the day just chilling by the waterfront, taking in the views and the vibe. Definitely one of those underrated UK day trips.
