2026 Illetas Travel Guide: must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transport & travel experiences (updated in August)

A great place to unwind and relax. The location is excellent for tranquility while still being near Palma and Portals. Having direct sea access is a big plus in the heat. The superior room with a balcony felt roomy enough. We opted for half board, and while the restaurant was quiet in the evenings, the food was decent. However, I do agree with others that water should ideally be included. Overall, I would recommend this place.

The hotel is stunning and clean. The staff is extremely friendly. There's parking across the street for €20 daily. Personally, I loved their saltwater pool, which is very clean. The breakfast is excellent. I can't comment on dinner since we didn't eat there. We booked a Junior Suite, and the bed was very comfortable and spacious. We're very satisfied and would gladly return.

On the positive side: The staff at reception, restaurant, and bars were very friendly. The pool area was lovely, with a separate pool for adults. There were plenty of sun loungers and parasols available. A black card is provided for collecting pool towels, which you return when handing the towel back – be sure not to lose it, as the fee for a lost card is €20. Lifeguards were present at the pool. The reception area offered ample seating and a pleasant view. Activities like outdoor cinema, yoga, and foam parties in the pool kept things lively. Access to mini-golf and tennis at the sister hotel opposite was another plus. The beach was right by the hotel, with a private swimming area that starts shallow (an ocean pool) before leading to deeper water. One day, there was a jellyfish warning, which was clearly announced, which was appreciated. There's also a dive school next door. A wide variety of clean and well-prepared meals were available at breakfast and dinner, along with a great view from the restaurant. Air conditioning in the room worked excellently and could be customized to preference. The room had a mini-fridge, a safe, and essential toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. I even got a free dental kit when I realized I'd forgotten my toothbrush. The bus to Palma stopped right outside the hotel (costing €2 and taking card payments). Taxis could be ordered from reception and arrived quickly. Luggage storage was available, both before check-in and after checkout. Booking a shower room for a few hours post-checkout was possible, which was a very convenient service. On the downside: Logistics could use serious improvement—especially during dinner, which felt chaotic when ordering and paying for drinks. The first day, drink orders were not accepted at all; on the second day, orders were placed at different times and only half of the drinks arrived, and on more than one occasion, drinks came so late that we were nearly finished with the meal. The beds were typical for Spain, meaning quite hard. Requesting a mattress topper resolved this issue after several reminders, making the stay more comfortable. While many staff members were proficient in English, several struggled with the language, making communication difficult at times. Overall, there is much that is great about this hotel, and if they can streamline their logistics, I would gladly return.

The Bon Sol is a truly unique and comfortable hotel, offering exceptional comfort alongside outstanding service provided by a professional and friendly staff. Each room is individually designed, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all necessary amenities. The hotel boasts three restaurants: one for breakfast and two options for lunch or dinner. The menu is diverse, changing daily and featuring specials and dishes of the day. There is a spacious main pool located next to an outdoor bar by the sea cove, complemented by a relaxing pool on a raised tier. The Spa provides a wide range of treatments, and the gym is well-equipped and easily accessible. Additionally, the relaxing sauna and spa area are definitely worth exploring. This family-owned and operated establishment ensures the owners are often present and welcoming. Overall, this is a fabulous place to stay, where all the staff are consistently warm and friendly.

Following our stay from July 1st to July 8th, we are absolutely delighted with our experience. The location is perfect, offering convenient access to transportation (buses and taxis). This provides great ease for exploring Palma or reaching the Plaza de España, where the main bus routes to visit Mallorca depart. Additionally, the hotel features a stunning view of Palma Bay, and the Ilettes beach is just a short walk away. Most importantly, after several visits, we continue to appreciate the exceptional hospitality provided by the attentive, cheerful, and highly professional team. The entire staff, including reception, restaurant, and housekeeping, contributed to our complete satisfaction. A special thank-you to Santiago and the reception team for their flawless French and outstanding service. Lastly, the show cooking during meals deserves a special mention. A heartfelt thanks to the staff for their kindness and expertise. Their warm welcome makes us eager to return very soon!

The staff is kind and considerate. The hotel is in an excellent location, with a bus stop right in front. There are supermarkets nearby, making it easy to stock up quickly. On top of that, the food is simply outstanding.

The views and setting were breathtaking, and I absolutely loved the charm of the old building and its architecture. However, there were a few downsides to the experience. Getting a taxi proved nearly impossible, with waits of at least an hour, so I’d suggest renting a car or being content staying at the hotel most of the time. There’s not much within walking distance, aside from two delightful beach clubs next door. For those booking sea view rooms, note that premium rooms are situated behind the suite building, meaning your view will include that structure before reaching the sea. The rooms were also missing mirrors, with the exception of the one in the bathroom, which was a bit inconvenient. Additionally, the glass-surrounded bathrooms lack privacy, which could be an issue for couples seeking more discretion when using the toilet or shower. On the bright side, the food was outstanding, the hotel was tranquil, and I adored the sea cove. The pool was beautiful, offering incredible views, and the staff were universally friendly, welcoming, and accommodating.

The hotel is fantastic, with a perfect location near Playa de Illetas and Cala Comtessa. Within a few minutes’ drive, you can reach Palma and Magaluf, with plenty of parking available nearby. While the structure is a bit dated, it is well-maintained, the rooms are clean, and all services are fully operational (any minor issues were promptly addressed). We especially enjoyed the indoor pool with jacuzzi, the gym, and the spa, as well as the outdoor pools and the opportunity to swim in the beautiful sea right in front of the complex. It would be even better if inflatable sunbeds or rings were available, as seen at the hotel across the way. The beach towel service was excellent, with clean towels always ready for guests. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, with Fabian and Eva standing out as our favorites, though all the other staff members did a remarkable job. Prior to our arrival, I sent several emails with questions and received prompt and thorough replies. The food was excellent, with a varied buffet offering daily changes. Breakfast could use a slightly wider sweet selection, but the savory options were extensive. For dinner, the appetizers were delicious, the meat and fish were freshly cooked and consistently tasty, and the dessert buffet was plentiful. There was also a section featuring traditional Mallorcan dishes, which we really appreciated. Every evening, there were activities such as live music and small performances, which we found very enjoyable, along with the sunrise yoga class. I would definitely choose this hotel again, both for this vacation and for any future stay!

Lovely hotel featuring a wonderful pool overlooking the sea and Palma Bay, situated in a prime central location with a convenient bus route to Palma or Portals right outside. The breakfast is delightful, offering an egg station and a wide variety including fruits, yoghurts, breads, cheese, cold meats, eggs, smoothies, bacon, and pastries, plus the option to sit at balcony tables with views of the pool and sea. Rooms are modern, exceptionally clean, well-equipped with ample hanger and hanging space, though drawer space is limited. The shower is lovely, and the TV includes UK channels and casting functionality. Pool service is excellent with good prices and nice snack options. Additionally, the hotel boasts a wellness area with an indoor pool and easy access for swimming in the sea. Overall, the location and hotel are outstanding.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is quiet, serene, and offers stunning views. The access to the sea is very convenient. A small suggestion for improvement: start breakfast at 7:30 AM. Perfectly located for exploring the island, this would allow guests to get started a little earlier.

Breakfast was fantastic, especially Carmen's Eggs Benedict, which were outstanding—my boyfriend even had three plates one morning. Carmen was warm, attentive, and meticulous, contributing to the pleasant experience. The pool bar service was impressive as well, and the pool area itself was delightful. While swimming, we encountered a minor problem, but the lifeguard was incredibly kind, professional, and quick to assist. Overall, a wonderful experience.

The location is fantastic, as we could practically step from our room straight into the sea. The staff, especially Poitrek, were professional and warm. The place was clean, great value for money, and I would definitely consider returning given its proximity to Palma and Portals. The spa was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was nice and calm.

One thing we really appreciated was that there were always sun loungers available by the pool. The hotel does not allow guests to reserve loungers, which created a much fairer and more relaxing atmosphere. The only areas that fell short of our expectations were the restaurant and the spa. The restaurant offered a rather limited selection, and the spa treatments and massages did not provide the quality or experience we had hoped for. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel for its great location, stunning views, friendly staff, and well-managed pool area.

A super pleasant experience, 4 days of genuine relaxation at a perfectly renovated Barceló. High-quality breakfasts and dinners, plus super friendly and attentive staff. Without a doubt, we will return—the Barceló hotels are always a guaranteed success!

Definitely a 5-star experience. The staff were pleasant and helpful, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The location was lovely, and the food and drinks were simply amazing. There were also two pools and access to the sea, which added to the charm. However, one suggestion would be to reduce the number of four-poster beds available for reservation, as they often went unused, taking up valuable space. Instead, increasing the number of shaded beds would be more practical.

We explored hotels across Mallorca before choosing Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá based on reviews and location, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. From the friendly staff who welcomed us (even allowing check-in eight hours early!) to the moment we left for the airport, everything was flawless. The property was even better than the photos, which is rare. Our room was beautiful, meticulously clean, and serviced perfectly every day. The staff consistently exceeded expectations, and the amenities were superb. The complimentary breakfast was truly outstanding—nothing like a typical hotel breakfast. It felt like a genuine 5-star offering, with fresh, high-quality food that made mornings stress-free. The spa experience was unparalleled—the best we've visited. We had a couples massage overlooking the water, and the serene setting was unforgettable. The spa itself was stunning, and the staff was fantastic. The location was ideal. Nestled by the water, the property features three beach areas, two pools, and full service across each. It was incredibly convenient to have everything close while also being just 10 minutes from Palma and an hour from Deià. The hotel also offers free electric Audi cars for guests, car service options, and assistance with taxis or Uber when needed. The view from our room on the sixth floor was breathtaking. Waking to the ocean, sailboats, shimmering waves in the sunrise, and sunset views every evening created unforgettable moments. The entire hotel is beautifully designed, and though it may sound like I'm overhyping it, the reality is it deserves all the praise. The photos we took hardly captured how stunning the place truly is—definitely Instagram-worthy with its impeccable greenery, designer loungers, and an overall super yacht feel. We're already considering another stay at this exact hotel in three months, possibly exploring more Meliá properties in the future. If you're deciding among Mallorca hotels, this one is the clear winner. It checks all the boxes: beauty, service, location, and overall experience. They even arranged for the car rental company to deliver directly to the hotel, simplifying everything for us. In terms of value, this is the best hotel. While Cap Rocat and La Residencia are luxurious options, Cap Rocat is remote and significantly pricier, and La Residencia involves daunting mountain drives with similarly high costs. Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá offers gorgeous design, water access, impeccable service, and the convenience of staying connected, without feeling isolated. The only minor downside was a limited late-night room service menu, but that’s hardly a major concern. For anyone visiting Mallorca looking to maximize their experience and value, Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá is unrivaled. This is the best place I’ve stayed in my life, and I’ve visited 15 countries in the past five years. It's ideal for both couples and families, as the large property ensures ample privacy and space. Unlike other places, it doesn’t feel overcrowded, which is another huge plus!

I recently stayed at this hotel with my friend for 5 days to celebrate my 50th birthday, and from beginning to end, it was an amazing experience. We were greeted with welcome drinks in a stunning reception area, and Andrea surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade, which was just incredible—a perfect start to our trip. Our room was beautiful, with a spectacular view overlooking the pool and the distant sea. On our first night, we opted for room service and enjoyed watching the sunset, which was truly special. Breakfasts were delightful, and we loved the pool area and the outdoor bar (we were on a B&B plan). The staff went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Marc was especially helpful and accommodating—a great guy. Andrea, Sandro, and Vanessa from housekeeping were also amazing; they all contributed to our memorable experience. I felt so spoiled when a birthday dessert and later a birthday drink were delivered to our room on the first day. The location was ideal for us as we explored the center and Illetas on different days. We also went parasailing and on a sunset cruise, both of which were conveniently nearby. I can’t recommend this hotel enough! A huge thank you to the team at Iberostar—you made our stay absolutely perfect, and we loved every moment.

Just returned from a fantastic week at the hotel. Very pleased with everything, including the room, cleanliness, pool, sea access, and location. The hotel had a great atmosphere, with a pleasant reception and bar area and friendly staff. The breakfast area was well-kept, offering a good variety of high-quality food. The gym was well-equipped with face towels available—though warm, it made for a good workout. We found both the hotel and the wider Illetas area lovely, with plenty of restaurants and shops for water and snacks. Prices for food and drinks at the hotel and nearby were reasonable. The area is quite hilly, which we enjoyed for walking and running. If hills aren't your thing, there's a frequent bus service where you can simply tap your bank card to pay. The bus also heads into Palma, a great spot for a day trip or dinner.

We stayed at this hotel with my family for the second time this year and had a wonderful experience. It's a beautiful place with well-maintained facilities and a spectacular view that makes the stay even more special. From the moment we arrived, the staff was very kind, attentive, and always ready to assist us with a smile. I’m so happy we picked Roc Hotel for our holiday! From free morning yoga sessions to nightly entertainment, I wish I could go back! The service was exceptional, with all the staff from reception to the gardeners going out of their way to assist us. Diego and the kind “bald guy” at reception were especially fantastic! The hotel was impeccably clean, and the maids did an excellent job. It’s close to restaurants, the beach, markets, and just 20 minutes from Palma center. Highly recommend—can’t wait to return! ❤️

Beautiful, simple hotel—very clean with lovely, helpful staff. Breakfast was good. Rooms were nice with comfy beds. We had a sea view, which was stunning and highly recommended. However, apart from the bathroom, there were no mirrors in the room, which was inconvenient. Just a 5-minute walk to a gorgeous beach where renting a bed costs €35 and is worth it. The hotel is in a quiet area with only a small supermarket and two small restaurants/bars nearby, but you can walk further or take the convenient number 4 bus (€2) right outside the hotel.

We just returned from a short stay at this hotel. I traveled with my teenage daughter, and we both found the hotel to be excellent. The breakfast was fantastic, and we loved our room on the 7th floor, the pools, and the friendly staff. However, for good coffee, you’ll need to wait until the pool bar opens at 10 am. Though we arrived before our room was ready, we were warmly welcomed with a bottle of water and pool towels. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the hotel restaurant and spent the afternoon sunbathing by the top pool, sipping cocktails. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of two stunning beaches, Cala Comtessa and Illetas. We visited both and loved them. There's a bus to Palma right outside the hotel for €2, and taking a taxi back costs about €20. Overall, this hotel offers excellent value for its price, and we hope to return next year.

I had a wonderful week celebrating my 60th birthday. The hotel lived up to its excellent reputation, even offering Cava for my special day. From our balcony, we enjoyed a stunning view of the bay of Palma, watching ships entering and leaving the port. Guest services were incredibly helpful in assisting with bus route planning to and around Palma, which was much appreciated as it wasn’t very straightforward. Next time, we’d likely book half board since many local restaurants were closing during that season.

Spent a few days here with my teenage son and had a fabulous time. The staff were attentive and friendly, the room was spotless with a great view. The poolside restaurant was really good, and breakfast had everything you could want, done really well. Will definitely rebook for next year.

This is a very traditional hotel set in a beautiful, quiet location. It's definitely worth upgrading to a junior suite. The food in the main dining room is exceptional, and the staff are absolutely top-notch—I loved the experience of being served. However, I do wish there had been some Spanish entertainment. The pool by the beach area was fantastic and impeccably maintained by Figo. Overall, this hotel stands out for its tranquility, uniqueness, and the exceptional efforts of the staff and family, making it a true 5-star experience.

We had an absolutely fantastic mother-daughter stay at ROC Illetas and can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel! The location is simply outstanding: situated directly by the sea, the hotel is beautifully tiered, offering stunning ocean views from almost everywhere. We especially loved the wonderful, separate access to the water – truly something special. Another highlight was the excellent breakfast. The wide selection left nothing to be desired, and starting each morning on the terrace with direct sea views was a beautiful experience. The outstanding service is also worth mentioning. Every staff member was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always helpful. Our requests were promptly addressed – even when I wanted to switch to a flatter pillow, I was assisted quickly and courteously. From the moment you arrive, you're warmly welcomed and just as kindly bid farewell. The room service was also excellent, adding to our overall sense of comfort and well-being. A big thank you to the entire team for making our stay so wonderful – we’ll gladly return!

We absolutely loved our stay! The team was great and super friendly. The rooms were lovely, and the shower was fantastic. Valentina is such an amazing asset, welcoming us to the outdoor areas and pools and giving us a tour. Breakfast was incredible with so much variety—and here's a tip: there's Cava, and yes, you can help yourself! Definitely yes to that! We also enjoyed walking along the rocky outcrops, where you can jump or use ladders for a swim in the sea. Brilliant experience. We'll definitely return. J&L
