Shirahige Waterfall Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Shirahige Waterfall, Biei, Sapporo🇯🇵
When visiting Shirahige Waterfall in Sapporo, be prepared to witness a stunning natural wonder. Shirahige Falls, known as the "white beard waterfall," offers a unique experience with white curtains of water cascading through the cliff. In winter, the waterfall transforms into a magical sight with frost-covered trees and shimmering icicles enhancing the blue ravine below.
After exploring the falls, you can head to nearby Biei Shirogane Onsen, a natural hot spring rich in minerals, offering a relaxing bath amidst the snowy landscape. You really don’t want to miss out the awesome onsen. ❤️

Have you seen a frozen waterfall?
Shirahige waterfall is absolutely phenomenal and it was so breathtaking! The moment I walked up the bridge I can feel the fresh stream blowing toward my face, it was so refreshing and cold here. I like the formation of ice at the side of the waterfall, this is something new to me and I’m so glad that I came here. To be honest, there’s nothing very much to do here, people come here mainly just to enjoy the Walter fall, so do take note that there’s no toilet around here.
I think it’s worth coming here if you like nature and if its along your way to the next attraction. I came here during winter, not sure how it will look like on other seasons. It’s a very chill and nice place, I think my phone is not able to capture how beautiful the scenery is, come and see it yourself! :)
Shirahige Waterfall
#thingstodo It was my very first trip before when I haven't discovered much of Hokkaido yet, so was excited when I found this place. It's beautiful, with convenient parking across the street. Not too crowded on a weekday either. It was also rainy the day we went though. The bridge is sturdy but it is built upwards, so may feel weird to some while walking across it. There is also a 286 step staircase close by but it doesn't lead to a nicer view, just a parking lot. It was a nice exercise though! Overall, worth the quick stop to see a beautiful waterfall and river.

Shikisai No Oka Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Colourful View in Biei
#springblossom
Definitely worth photo-taking with a nice colourful view. Lovely scenery, good and polite staff and accessible. Free parking also makes it convenient ( if you have a car ).This "rainbow field" is definitely our favourite one in the area. It's free to enter, and you only have to pay if you want to take the rides. Worth a visit to see the immense fields of colourful flowers.
This place looks stunning all year

🌷Tulips -> Spring

❄️Now you may ask, what about winter? 🎿Shikisai no Oka is also a wonderful location for winter activities such as snowmobiling, snow rafting, and sledding in the vast premises of mountain hills. ⛰️
😊There's a reason that this place is known as Four Seasons Hill.
Shikisai No Oka
#celebratewithtrip
Shikisai No Oka is a large touristy flower farm. Nice place to take photos when not crowded.
It's a magical experience to witness all the of the natural beauty in just one place and we got the chance to view the whole place in a hired buggy. Colours of the flowers make us smile & feel pleasant. Love it !!

We visited Shikisai no Oka upon recommendation by the Biei Tourism Office. It was the prettiest out of the flower fields we visited including Tomita & Zerubu. We took the tram ride (¥500 per pax) and the views were magnificent. It was extremely crowded though and yes, a lot of tourists. They have a gift shop and some food stalls. Entrance is free. I don't mind paying for the rides as the workers there really worked hard to plant those beautiful flowers. Definitely recommended if you're deciding which flower farm to head to.

Shirogane Pond
#thingstodo Beautiful and worth a visit, however, keep in mind that its probably the best if it is sunny and not too cloudy.
If you are dependent on public transportation take attention to the bus schedule from Asahikawa to the Blue Pond. It takes a while and not too many rides go per day.
If you go, combine it with a nice hike and the Shirahige Waterfall.
Picturesque pond in Hokkaido
#2024wish
This is Shirogane Blue Pond in Hokkaido. A beautiful pond with an amazing blue water color hue. There are some trails to explore nature surrounding the pond. There's a public restroom and big parking lot in the vicinity. We went here in summer. Transportation is hard if you don't have a car tho. We literally had to wait hours to go back to our hotel.
In 2024, I wish I could win this wish giveaway 🙏
A beautiful blue Pond
A lovely place to take a relaxing stroll along the artificially created blue pond and it's tranquil surroundings. The blue water is an effect of the aluminum that has seeped into the water and reflected from the sunlight.
Recommended for a nice quick visit for some photography opportunities. There is also public toilets available a this area.
Parking Fee : 500 yen per car 🚗
Entry Fee : Free
Nearby : Restaurant, Cafe , Ice-Cream shop🍔🍦

Shikisai no Oka is probably the most famous flower field in Biei which covers seven hectares of gardens and is planted with dozens of flowers. In summer, Shikisai no Oka is the ocean of flowers. However in winter, Shikisai no Oka is the cover of snow.
Walking through the pure white of the winter, the world is multicolored, only it is pure white.

Sounkyo Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Sounkyo's Autumn Symphony Beckons Again
#2024wish
In 2018, my unforgettable trip to Sounkyo in Hokkaido, Japan, left me mesmerized by the enchanting beauty of autumn. The vibrant foliage adorned the gorges of Sounkyo, creating a breathtaking tapestry of reds, yellows, and oranges against the majestic cliffs. Exploring the area's waterfalls and indulging in the soothing onsen resorts added a touch of serenity to the adventure. As I gazed at the layers of clouds drifting over the landscape, I felt a profound connection to nature. The Ainu-inspired name, Souunbetsu, echoed with the melody of countless waterfalls. In 2024, I wish to go there again, hoping to relive the magic that Sounkyo bestowed upon me during that unforgettable autumn journey.
Xia Guanyun, autumn forest, plus hot springs; Diyun Gorge has become a tourist destination in Japan, and a recognized red leaf name. Because the latitude is higher in late September, the forest is full, and the autumn is full.
But if you want to enjoy more autumn colors in the layer of the Yunyun Gorge, you can try to turn over the Shibei card, through the Daxue Lake, the double waterfall platform, and the roaming of the Yunyunxia all the way, there will be a surprise all the way.
Autumn in Hokkaido is short-lived, because summer and winter are so beautiful, so people tend to overlook the fall,
Hokkaido is only a month in October, just a month, maybe it will snow in November
Depart from Sapporo, stayed for one night and then set off for the road to the east.
The road is very far away. It is estimated that there are about 6 hours,
so we are going to collect the earliest red leaves in Japan, which is -
The Hossein Gorge in Hokkaido is a Grand Canyon that has been formed by the Ishikari River flowing from the Snowy Mountains. It is also one of Japan's most famous scenic spots for viewing red leaves, from Chiyue Silver Spring Terrace in mid-September and Black Mountain in late September. In the Hongye Valley in the first ten days of October, all the way is limited to red leaf color, and you can enjoy 360 degrees in the air by taking the cable car.
In the hidden valley, you can also sip secret soup, hike to see the magnificent cliffs, rivers and waterfalls. The red leaf season can also be used on the Red Leaf Valley Promenade, which is open from June to early November each year. From late September to mid-October, the overwhelming red leaves and yellow leaves are amazing and not like the Hongye District near the city. It is full of people.
If you look carefully enough, you can see the little squirrel from the outside of the cable car.
