Many people go to Seniman, which is in the top 12 in Asia, but personally, I find the flavor profile too monotonous and not impressive at all. Given the price, I don't recommend buying it for personal consumption. If you really want to buy some, I recommend Suksma Kopi Ubud. This shop used to provide coffee training for all of Bali. They have the exact same beans as Seniman, but with rougher packaging and at half the price. ✅ [Bali handmade notebooks] Bottom left of P1, on a small street near the Royal Palace. Quoted at 35k/small notebook, but you can bargain down to 100k for 5. [Dreamcatchers] Found a souvenir shop while walking along the beach in Kuta. It's huge, with 4 floors, and these types of shops are very cheap. Small dreamcatchers are 15–20k (first row in P2), medium ones are 25k (second row in P2). [IQOS] Available in most supermarkets; just ask the cashier. [Surabaya bracelets/coffee cups] Mirota Batik Handicraft Surabaya has a super complete selection of souvenirs at cheap prices. Batik pillow covers are ¥20 (top right yellow one in P1), coconut shell coffee cups are RMB 7, and leather bracelets with coral and shells are ¥2. [Best shopping in Yogyakarta] Prawirotaman Street is the best for shopping, with designer boutiques and second-hand bookstores. The three batik bags, ranging from ¥50–70, all came from this street. I found a copy of "Early Stories 1966" at Ruang Melamun. I didn't buy it because of limited luggage space, and I slightly regret it 😭. I bought hats, bookmarks, shadow puppet fridge magnets, handmade soap, and other knick-knacks at Hamzah Batik Malioboro. The selection is very complete, so you need to take your time browsing. Batik is truly maximalist; I felt like my prefrontal cortex was fried after browsing... [Komodo] In Labuan Bajo, coffee lovers must visit Rumah Kopi Kebun Kota. It's located in a field with an extremely rustic storefront. It's a place for local coffee enthusiasts to learn and for some NGO organizations to meet. There are quite a few books in the shop, mostly related to film, anthropology, sociology, and religion. It was my favorite place on the entire trip to Indonesia. About this place: It's not a filter; it's the romance provided by nature: ✅ The pink sand comes from crushed red coral + fine white sand, which gives off a soft glow in the sunlight ✅ The seawater is like glass jelly, clear enough to see schools of fish swimming by your feet ✅ Few people and beautiful scenery; no crowds of tourists, just you, the sea breeze, the sunshine, and the waves This isn't a filter; it's science. About this set of photos: Carrying a drone and a tripod, I walked back and forth several times in the scorching noon sun and the soft evening light, just to capture the best light and tide. The one where I'm lying down was to use my body as a scale to show the vastness of this beach. The one where I'm looking back was waiting for the moment the waves just washed over the sand. A few practical tips for friends who want to go: 1. Transportation: Fly from Bali to Labuan Bajo, then charter a boat. There are usually day-trip itineraries; Pink Beach is typically the second stop. The boat ride isn't short, but it's worth it. 2. Timing: The light is best before 10:00 AM or after 3:00 PM; the midday sun is too harsh. Be sure to check the tides; the pink color is most visible at low tide. 3. Gear: You must have adequate sun protection. If you want to take great photos, a drone is a game-changer. If you don't have one, a wide-angle lens will do. 4. Outfit: A simple white T-shirt/black T-shirt + khaki shorts works great; the color contrast is strong, making the person stand out. 5. Mindset: This isn't a mature "resort beach"; it's more primitive and more stunning. Enjoy this sense of exploration. Finally: There are some places where seeing 100 photos doesn't compare to standing there for 1 minute and feeling it for yourself. The wind is salty, the sand is pink, and the sea is a transparent blue. The world is big, and there are many wonders. Setting off is the best answer. 🌴 6 Days in Labuan Bajo – Komodo, Islands, Sunsets & Slow Days Labuan Bajo completely surprised me. I originally came for the incredible islands and Komodo National Park, but I ended up loving Labuan Bajo itself just as much. My trip had the perfect mix of adventure and slow travel Komodo dragons, Padar Island, Pink Beach, snorkelling, sunsets, paddleboarding, flying foxes, good food and plenty of time by the pool. Day 1 – Arrive & Sunset at Loccal Collection 🌅 Check into Loccal Collection and don't plan too much for your first day. The views from the hotel are incredible, particularly from the pool overlooking the ocean and islands. Day 2 – Komodo National Park Day Trip 🐉🏝️ This is the big adventure day and an absolute must when visiting Labuan Bajo. I did a full-day boat trip through Komodo National Park, including Padar Island, Pink Beach and Komodo Island. The climb up Padar Island is definitely worth it. Once you reach the viewpoint, you get that famous panoramic view across the different bays and surrounding islands. Then it was time for Pink Beach, with its beautiful pink-tinted sand and clear water. And, of course, one of the biggest reasons for coming to this part of Indonesia seeing the Komodo dragons. It was a long day, but absolutely worth it and easily one of the highlights of my trip. Day 3 – Le Flores Floating Restaurant & Paddleboarding 🏄♀️ After the big Komodo day, slow everything down. Spend the day at Le Flores Floating Restaurant. Have lunch and drinks, enjoy the views and hire a paddleboard to get out on the water. Don't rush off after eating. Make it a proper lazy island day. This was one of those simple holiday days that ended up being one of my favourites. Day 4 – Snorkelling, Island & Flying Fox Sunset Cruise 🦇⛵ In the afternoon, head out on another boat but this time for a much more relaxed sunset trip. My trip included snorkelling, an island stop and watching the flying foxes at sunset. Watching the sunset from the boat was such a beautiful experience. Definitely add this to your Labuan Bajo itinerary. Day 5 – Explore Labuan Bajo, Buso Give yourself a day without a strict schedule. Explore Labuan Bajo, wander around the harbour, stop somewhere for coffee and enjoy the town. Find somewhere beautiful for another sunset before heading out for dinner. I had an amazing dinner at Buso, which was one of my favourite meals during my stay. Day 6 – Pool Day & One Last Sunset ☀️🌅 Finish the trip slowly. Sleep in, have breakfast and spend some time by the pool. Don't feel like you need to squeeze another tour into the itinerary. One of the things I loved most about Labuan Bajo was simply sitting somewhere beautiful and taking in the views. Have one last drink overlooking the ocean and, of course, watch one final sunset. 💛 My Tips for Labuan Bajo My biggest recommendation is: don't rush it. A lot of people seem to use Labuan Bajo simply as the starting point for Komodo National Park, but there is so much more to enjoy. Do the big Komodo National Park day trip, climb Padar Island, see Pink Beach and the Komodo dragons. But also leave time for the slower experiences. Spend a day at a floating restaurant. Hire a paddleboard. Go snorkelling. Watch the flying foxes at sunset. Find some live music. Eat somewhere special. Sit by the pool with a drink. And watch as many sunsets as you possibly can. 🌅 Labuan Bajo reminded me that sometimes the best trips aren't about how many places you can fit into your itinerary. Sometimes you just need to slow down and enjoy exactly where you are. ❤️

Before I came, I only saw pictures and thought the scenery was breathtaking, but no one told me the hike would be so grueling. On the final morning of our Komodo cruise, we set sail for Kelor Island. Small, unassuming, and flying under the radar, it provided the perfect ending to our trip. 🏝️ Approaching from the water, the island welcomes you with a tiny white-sand beach and water so crystal-clear that you can see every single pebble on the sea floor. My little series about my trip to Labuan Bajo has come to an end. And now that all the highlights have been shared, I can honestly say: this destination turned out to be way more fascinating than just a trip to see the Komodo dragons. Labuan Bajo is a collection of completely different experiences rolled into one trip. It featured long boat rides, sunrises among the islands, unique beaches, snorkeling, breathtaking views from lookout points, and, of course, the famous Komodo dragons—the main reason many flock to this part of Indonesia. What I loved most was the sense of a true adventure. Waking up early in the middle of the ocean, spending the entire day exploring islands, swimming in crystal-clear waters, and being surrounded by landscapes that are hard to capture even in the most stunning photos. That said, Labuan Bajo isn't exactly a place where everything is perfectly organized and predictable. A lot depends on the weather, the boat you choose, your itinerary, and the crew. But this slight unpredictability is exactly what makes the journey feel so alive and unforgettable. I’d highly recommend staying for at least a few days and definitely setting aside time for a boat tour. The town itself can be explored pretty quickly, but the true magic of the region begins the moment your boat leaves the harbor and sets sail for the islands of Komodo National Park.
