Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
You should visit Guizhou at least once, and experience the day and night of the Qianhu Miao Village!!
It turns out that the off-season is the correct way to visit the Qianhu Miao Village of Xijiang❗️||🏠Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village
🚗About transportation:
Take the high-speed rail to Kaili South Station!
❗️There is a bus ticket office on the left side of the high-speed rail station: 18/person (but there is a timetable, it seems to be one and a half hours)
❗️If the departure time is close to the departure time, then I strongly recommend taking the bus! There is really no need to take a black car, the bus can directly send to the west gate or north gate, both gates will stop
-
🚪About which door to enter:
Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village has two gates, west gate and north gate
I sincerely recommend going in and out of the north gate
Because the west gate must go through a commercial street that lasts for seven or eight minutes,
The commercial street is really really very⬇️ Head
If you are dragging a suitcase, it is even more difficult
-
🚌About sightseeing car:
After entering the scenic area, you have to take a sightseeing car to enter the village
I can only say that the money that should be spent still has to be spent
-
🏘️About accommodation:
Accommodation is not recommended! The best view is with a balcony
If there are not too many requirements, it is enough to suggest halfway up the mountain
Living too high is really really hard to climb
-
🍽️About eating:
For friends who come to Guizhou for the first time, I recommend sour soup beef or local stir-fry
-
📝Note tips:
There are really few people going in the off-season
Accommodation and eating are relatively convenient
It is best to find a sunny day to go
The experience on a rainy day should not be too good
The village is quite commercial, but I personally think it is very beautiful and worth it! The stilted buildings are very beautiful and the photos are very good. It is a good choice to go on a sunny day for a weekend. It is not as unbearable as the Internet says
There will be some performances at a fixed time
Try to bring as little luggage as possible. It is really hard to walk with a suitcase on the road in the village. If there is really a lot of luggage, try to choose a homestay that can help with luggage
Remember to wear a pair of comfortable shoes

Getting there: Get to Kaili city (in Guizhou province) by train. Then get a taxi to the village. A private car is also an option and you just need to search online for a company - there are many English speaking ones that can take you.
The village itself is filled with stunning traditional wooden architecture and stunning scenic views of the ancient village. (see my photos for some examples). It is truly a unique part of China.
I recommend staying for several nights to really enjoy and take in the culture.

Langde Miao Village Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Langde Miao minority village in Guizhou
Our visit to a Miao minority village in Guizhou was a fascinating experience that allowed us to immerse ourselves in the rich culture and traditions of this ancient community. We were especially intrigued by the stunning Miao dresses that we saw, which were intricately embroidered and adorned with silver jewelry.
Serena was particularly taken with the dresses, and she decided to rent a local costume for our visit. As she posed for photos on the village square, she looked like a true Miao princess, with her dress and jewelry shimmering in the sunlight.
But our visit was about more than just admiring the beauty of the Miao dresses. We also had the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and customs of the Miao people. We were fascinated by the community's unique architecture, which included stilt houses and wooden bridges. We also learned about the Miao's rich tradition of embroidery, which has been passed down through generations of women.
Overall, our visit to the Miao minority village in Guizhou was a truly enriching experience that left us with a deep appreciation for the beauty and richness of this ancient culture. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and enlightening cultural experience.
Exploring Miao Culture in Guizhou
While touring through Guizhou, we visited a lot of different Miao Villages, but there is one that really seems to stand out in my mind: Langde.
During our stay, it wasn't packed with tourists, and there are actually two parts of the village that you can explore - the upper and the lower part. We received a really warm welcome from the local villagers - a procession of musicians and small cups filled with rice wine as you enter the grounds of the village; followed by a performance of local song and dance.
Following this warm welcome, we were left to our own devices to wander - without a doubt it is a quiet village, where local culture and traditions are kept alive by those still living there.
Find it: Langde Miao Village, Leishan County, Guizhou, China

Michaela (@uncoveringcities) Langde Miao Village
Our story start from small city Kaili. It's located around 40-45 minutes drive from Langde Miao Vilage and it's the place where you can find few good hotels.
Langde Miao Village is old and authentic village of Miao people and they still leave there. Located between hills, next to small river it's amazing place to spend few hours. From the entrance gate you can walk or take shuttle bus. If you are lucky you will see typically Miao dance at main square inside of the village. You can also rent clothes and make some nice pictures for your social medias.
You should definitely put this place on your list and enjoy in nature and history.

🌿 If you are tired of commercialized tourist destinations and long for an authentic and profound ethnic experience, be sure to visit 📍Langde Upper Village during the off-peak season!
🍃 In the quiet travel season, Langde Upper Village is like a tranquil paradise. The residents maintain a simple way of life, and the daily folk song and dance performances that start promptly at 11 am are particularly eye-catching. When people of all ages in the village gather together, performing Miao ballads with lusheng (a traditional instrument) and their natural voices, the purity and shock will give you a whole new understanding of this land.
💃 Don't forget to participate in the 'blocking the door' wine ceremony at 11 am every day! It's a rare experience that lets you feel the profound cultural heritage of Langde Upper Village. During the peak tourist season, there are even two wonderful folk song and dance performances, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the passion and vitality of this land.

Visiting the Qianhu Miao Village during the off-season is worry-free and feels like being in a world of fairy tales and martial heroes!
Visiting the Qianhu Miao Village during the off-season is simply fantastic! You can freely take photos throughout the village without any pressure.
The stilted Miao houses scattered across the mountains, nestled among green hills and clear waters, create a scene of beauty that feels like being in a fairy tale world when all the lights are lit at night.
There are numerous spots for sightseeing and photo opportunities. There are six Wind and Rain Bridges, with the fourth and fifth ones being particularly revered; the Yunting Hotel offers a panoramic night view of the entire Qianhu Miao Village, and Fang Qi has also shot here, with excellent results in blue tones, especially when the lights are on, it's like stepping into a scene from a fairy tale drama; the Lusheng Field hosts wonderful cultural performances every day, where you can enjoy the songs and dances of Miao girls; the viewing platform offers nice views both during the day and at night; the lively Youfang Street, with its array of Miao specialty shops, is a great place for close-up portraits of young ladies.
Transportation is also very convenient. You can take the high-speed train from Guiyang to Kaili South Station, then take a direct bus to the scenic area from the right side of the exit, with buses departing every hour and a fare of eighteen yuan, or a taxi for about one hundred and ten yuan. Self-driving is also convenient; you can choose the west or north gate depending on where you're staying, about 2.5 hours from Guizhou, with a parking fee of thirty yuan per day. The parking lot is a ten-minute walk from the entrance to the scenic area, and you need to take a sightseeing bus to enter.
The entrance fee to the scenic area is one hundred yuan, but it's free for residents of Foshan and Zhejiang. For dining, the Old Village at the viewing platform is highly recommended, with delicious rice dishes and greens. There are many special foods in Southeast Guizhou, such as sour soup beef, reed pond sauerkraut fish, rice tofu, sweet zongzi, and cured meat, etc.
For accommodation, I chose Sanchunli. There are three hotels here, each with its own characteristics, and all facilities and equipment are shared.
Sanchunli · Ji Huayuan Meisu is only five meters from the scenic viewing platform, with a coffee bar and book bar, and the mountain view rooms offer a panoramic view of the terraced fields, with an interesting batik experience hall on the first floor.
Sanchunli · Meng Holiday Hotel has the only cliffside infinity pool in the Miao Village, which is super photogenic, and you can also have a drink at the 'Rebirth Bar' at night. The forest SPA here is also worth experiencing.
Sanchunli · Zhong Quanjing Meisu is located at a commanding height of the Miao Village, with each room offering a stunning window view, and a private viewing platform, allowing you to enjoy the lights of thousands of Miao homes without leaving your room.

Rave about this hidden cliff hotel in Guizhou!
The natural scenery of Guizhou is like a poem splashed with ink by Mother Nature, every stroke brimming with poetic grace and rhythm. The mottled bluestone paths, the quaint stilted buildings, and the Miao girls jingling with silver ornaments make everything here seem to travel through time, back to an era of returning to simplicity.
You can stand in front of the Huangguoshu Waterfall, feeling the mist from the waterfall that plummets for miles; stroll through the green fairyland of Xiaoqikong, listening to the melodious sound of the lusheng... Stay in the cliff hotel hidden in this secret land, watch the mountains echo in the empty valley, and gaze at the starry sky at night.

🚗Highlights:
National 5A level scenic spot, there are two original stone steles at the head of the bridge, one is the 'Repair Monument', inscribing the merit of building the bridge; the other is the 'Everlasting Prosperous Bridge Monument', engraved with the couplet 'Thousands of years of mountain rocks and waves, ten thousand years of Resounding River Bridge'. The bridge has seven holes, commonly known as the 'Small Seven Holes Ancient Bridge'.
🎫Ticket Information:
Ticket + scenic area car 150
✨Travel Suggestions:
It is recommended to drive by yourself. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Libo County to the Small and Big Seven Holes. When you arrive at the entrance of the scenic area, take the scenic bus on the left to the Small Seven Holes, and the Big Seven Holes is on the right for walking. There are small electric cars to shuttle between the various attractions of the Small Seven Holes, or you can walk, but it is quite far. It is recommended to take the sightseeing car at any time. The most famous is still the Small Seven Holes Bridge, of course, there will be a lot of people taking pictures on the bridge.

Places you must visit in your lifetime
If you have been to three, you can show off in front of your friends; if you can go to more than half, then you are the king of the travel industry.
1. Mount Laojun: Located in Henan, Mount Laojun is a real palace in the sky. The mountains here are green and the temples are solemn, giving a mysterious and quiet feeling. It is worth mentioning that it is not open to foreigners.
2. The Forbidden City: The glory and shock of the Forbidden City are indescribable. Walking in this former royal palace, you will deeply understand the profound cultural heritage of the Chinese nation.
3. Jiuzhaigou: After returning from Jiuzhaigou, you will not look at water, and after returning from the Five Mountains, you will not look at mountains. The lakes, waterfalls, and colorful forests of Jiuzhaigou make people feel like they are in a fairyland on earth.
4. Changbai Mountain: You must bring your loved one here, the whole Tianchi and water monsters are confessing to you. In winter, Changbai Mountain is covered with snow, like a beautiful painting.
5. Libo Xiaoqikong: The emerald left by God in the world. It combines the mountains and waters of Zhangjiajie and Jiuzhaigou, which is very beautiful.
6. Wuyuan: Half mountain mist and half mountain yellow, better than the living paradise on earth. The rural scenery of Wuyuan is simple and elegant, intoxicating.
7. Enshi: Go to Xianbenna in China, cross the Pingshan Grand Canyon, and stay in the cliff glass house in the heart of the earth valley. The landscape here is so beautiful that it makes people's hearts move.
8. Hulunbuir: Here, you can ride a horse on the grassland and feel the freedom of the wind. Blue sky, white clouds, green grass, constitute the unique magnificent scenery of Hulunbuir.
The above 8 places, both the natural wonders and the treasures of the world. Walking through these places, you will gain a unique travel memory. In the future, why not include them one by one and become the king of the travel industry.
May Day holiday is over, we avoided the peak travel season and signed up for a group tour to Guizhou that we had been longing for on Ctrip. Some experiences: 1. The cheap air tickets booked on Ctrip, the outbound flight of 9 Yuan Airlines was delayed for three hours, and we arrived at the hotel after 11 pm. The return flight of West Air was delayed for more than an hour, and we arrived home at almost 1 am. The seats could only be at a right angle, which was uncomfortable for me with protruding intervertebral discs, neither standing nor sitting. 2. Very tired! Average of over 20,000 steps per day, mostly climbing mountains! The first day at Huangguoshu Waterfall was okay, the waterfall was quite magnificent, but we, in our seventies, were deterred by the Water Curtain Cave. The second day at Fanjing Mountain, it was cloudy at the foot of the mountain and raining on the mountain. After hearing from young people who came down from the mountain with strong bodies, "I didn't see anything!" we took the cable car back without hesitation. None of the people who continued to climb the mountain reached the summit, and most of them returned disappointed after reaching the Mushroom Stone. They regretted it and were fortunate for their foresight. 😄 (It is said that there are 300 days a year when you can't see the scenery). In the morning of the third day, we visited the ancient town of Zhenyuan, which left a good impression. There were few people, it had history and heritage, and the commercial atmosphere was not too strong. No need to climb mountains, suitable for the elderly. In the afternoon, Qianhu Miao Village had too strong a commercial atmosphere, and the commercial street was full of humanistic landscapes created for tourism. There were photo studios everywhere renting Miao costumes for taking pictures. We experienced the long table banquet and had a good time. The night view was lively, suitable for young people. On the fourth day, we visited the Seven Small Arches, with the small arches as the main attraction. It was indeed a bit like what the tour guide said: looking up to Zhangjiajie, looking down to Jiuzhaigou, and enjoying the pleasant scenery of small Guizhou in the middle. Guizhou Province is not small, but Jiuzhaigou is more magnificent and colorful. If you can't go to Jiuzhaigou, go to Seven Small Arches. 3. The accommodation was okay, especially for the first three days. Qianhu Miao Village was the worst, with a slight smell of sewage, and we could still hear people talking in the corridor at one or two o'clock in the middle of the night. I don't know if it's because the room faces the corridor and has bad feng shui. 4. There are many Guizhou snacks, some of which are delicious, such as the pie with meat filling. Some people like to eat sausage and intestine noodles, but most of them don't suit their taste, especially the folded ear root, which is absolutely delicious for Guizhou people. 4. Our tour guide was quite responsible and attentive, and the young driver's service attitude was funny and cute. I have selected a few photos of Seven Small Arches and Zhenyuan Ancient City. In short, avoid the peak travel season for tourist attractions!
