Growing anxious, I left the viewing platform and walked down to the wilderness at the mountain’s foot. There was no path, only wild grass and scattered stones. I kept my head down, step by step, transforming myself from a "visitor determined to see the snow mountain" into someone expecting nothing. When I reached a small stream melting from the snow, I stopped and crouched to wash my hands. The water was bone-chilling cold, sharp enough to awaken the senses. Then I looked up. Each rhododendron looked like an upside-down little bell, its petals thin and translucent, with fine spots hidden deep in the pink-purple heart. A gentle breeze stirred the flowers across the slope, making them sway lightly like a group of girls whispering in skirts. A few bees busily buzzed among the flowers, their hum blending with the sound of the stream. The air carried a faint sweetness—not as intense as roses, but fresh and crisp, with the scent of snowmelt. I sat by the stream for a long time, just watching without taking photos. Suddenly, I remembered the name Namcha Barwa—meaning "Spear that pierces the sky" in Tibetan. People from all directions come to wait for this spear to pierce the clouds and reveal its sharp edge. But at this moment, on this overlooked hillside at the mountain’s foot, the rhododendrons quietly bloomed. No one waited for them, and they waited for no one. It turns out the most moving part of this mountain is never just the moment it reveals itself. The flowers that bloom without waiting for anything are the gentlest secret hidden behind its veil.
