Up in the cool highlands of West Sumatra,📍Bukittinggi gave us a refreshing break. Our journey began with a visit to the iconic Jam Gadang, the city’s proud clock tower — elegant, historic, and standing right at the heart of town life. Nearby, horse carriages clicked along the street, and we couldn’t resist a short horse ride around the square. From there, we headed to Puncak Lawang, a viewpoint that took our breath away. The landscape stretched far and wide. Really enjoy seeing clouds drifting over the shimmering Danau Maninjau. At the lake’s edge, life felt even slower. We sat quietly, soaking in Lake Maninjau's peaceful waters, and tried a cup of fresh traditional tebu (sugarcane) drink from a roadside stall. i think this is the best sate Padang i ever ate. located just a small 'warung' on my way to puncak lawang in bukittinggi. sapi meat cooked very well and soft came with melted sauce. There is also ketupat in this portion. someone said sate Padang is not on the food hunter list here, but after i ate this you should consider this warung in your itinerary. Thanks to my tour guide who introduced it.

Puncak Lawang is a hill around Lake Maninjau, a natural mountain tour that you can visit in West Sumatra. the scenery offered is very beautiful and like we are above the clouds. there are also many inns offered so you can enjoy the view of Maninjau lake at night and accompanied by the warm bonfire provided by the inn. i suggest you to bring thick clothes because the weather there is very cold especially at night. don't forget to check the health of your vehicle because the road to get there is a lot through climbs and turns so it is recommended to go there during the day so that the road there is safer.
