Crosby Beach Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Crosby Beach
Crosby beach is located in Merseyside, 30 minute drive from St. Helens train station. It’s worth a long walk along the beach, even in winter. Along the beach is the art installation by Sir Antony Gormley called Another Place. This sees the statues at various points of the beach, in different stages of rising from the sand. There are 100 cast iron statues, all looking out to the horizon. Following the beach along, you should be wary of quicksand and stay around the paths others are taking. Always learn when the tide will come in to not be stuck on the beach.

The Lake House at Crosby
The Lake House is both a hotel on the seafront and a lovely restaurant/cafe to visit. There are a large number of tables and a decent range of food on offer. Spaces to sit outdoors are also available and drinks/food can be enjoyed with a sea view.
The Lake House is a decent cafe to visit before or after your walk along the beach and seafront, offering a continued view while you unwind.

🌊 Crosby Beach Tranquil Retreat 🌅
Wandered along the serene shores of Crosby Beach, where each step on the vast expanse of sand felt like a dance with the tides. "Iron Men Horizon" greeted me, Antony Gormley's enigmatic sculptures standing sentinel against the ebb and flow of the Irish Sea. The distant sound of waves harmonized with the gentle whispers of the statues, creating a coastal symphony. As the sun dipped low, casting golden hues on the horizon, Crosby became a tranquil canvas where time paused, and the tranquil beauty of the coast unfolded. #CrosbyCalm #SeasideSunsetVibes

Liverpool: Dockside Charm to Coastal Artistry
A journey to Liverpool promises more than just Beatles memorabilia and Premiership football; it's a city filled with vibrant culture, awe-inspiring architecture, lively nightlife and a fantastic waterfront. But what truly mesmerised me was something entirely unexpected - a hauntingly beautiful spectacle found just on the outskirts of the city, on the sandy expanses of Crosby Beach.
My days in Liverpool were filled with excitement. I soaked in the history of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Royal Albert Dock, wandering through its stunning Victorian warehouses, now filled with a bustling mixture of museums, shops, and restaurants. As dusk fell, the city transformed into a playground for revellers, and the energetic nightlife of Seel Street came alive. With its vastarray of unique bars and live music venues, it was the perfect place to experience the vivacious spirit of Liverpool.
Yet, despite the allure of the city, the experience that truly captured my heart and imagination was a short trip away, in Crosby Beach. Here, an army of 100 life-size cast-iron men stare out into the Irish Sea, seemingly oblivious to the world around them. These figures, collectively known as "Another Place," are the work of the internationally renowned sculptor Antony Gormley. As I strolled along the beach, I felt an overwhelming sense of solemnity and tranquillity. The figures stand in silent contemplation, some partially buried in sand, others partially submerged in water as the tides change. The view of these statues against the backdrop of the sea and the setting sun was nothing short of mesmerising.
The statues, dotted around the beach and stretching almost one kilometre out to sea, interact with the elements in a fascinating way. As the tide rose, some figures became partially, and then entirely submerged, creating an ever-changing relationship between art, nature, and viewer. It was a profound and poetic reflection of the human relationship with nature, evoking a sense of awe and respect for the sea's power.
This encounter with Gormley'sart was a poignant reminder of the surprises that await us when we venture beyond the usual tourist trail. Liverpool had drawn me in with its well-known
attractions, but it was the solemn iron men on Crosby Beach that left the most lasting impression.
So, if you find yourself inLiverpool, wander the lively streets, enjoy the docks, and dive into the nightlife. But don't forget to make that trip to Crosby Beach. The silent watchers await, ready to offer you a unique, thought-provoking experience you'll never forget.

🌊 Formby Coastal Symphony: Nature Overture
Wandered through the enchanting landscape of Formby with the National Trust, where dunes danced to the rhythm of the Irish Sea. "Sands of Serenity" stretched beyond the horizon, a canvas painted with coastal hues and whispering pine trees. The red squirrels, elusive ambassadors of the woodland, played hide-and-seek amid the foliage. As I reached the shoreline, the echoes of seabirds and the scent of salt mingled in the air. Formby, not just a coastal haven but a National Trust sanctuary where nature's symphony unfolded in every rustle of leaves and crash of waves. #FormbyNatureHarmony #NationalTrustSerenade 🌲🌊
