The first stop was Mishima Taisha, one of Shizuoka's most revered shrines. My last visit was eight years ago, when cherry blossoms drifted gently through the rain. This time, the sakura buds were just beginning to bloom, offering a different but equally beautiful glimpse of spring's arrival. From there, I headed to the Mishima Skywalk, Japan's longest pedestrian suspension bridge. Stretching high above a lush valley, the bridge offers spectacular panoramic views, and on a clear day, the majestic silhouette of Mount Fuji rises beautifully in the distance. As of now, it's the longest in Japan!! From the bridge, you can see "Japan's highest mountain, Mt. Fuji, Japan's deepest bay, Suruga Bay, and Japan's longest suspension bridge"— it's a place where you can see three of Japan's bests all at once! It's also a wonderful scenic spot with magnificent views of the Izu mountains. On the day I went, Mt. Fuji was repeatedly hiding and appearing behind the clouds, so I was really happy the moment I could finally see it! 📍 Mishima Skywalk It was much more spacious than I imagined, a place where you can not only cross the suspension bridge but also enjoy eating and playing. I don't have photos, but you can also meet some adorable animals! Even if you only plan to "just drop by," you can surprisingly have fun for a long time. 📍 Suspension Bridge Since it's 400m long, walking across gives you a good sense of accomplishment. It feels sturdier than expected, but it sways a bit, adding a little thrill. There are staff members standing along the bridge watching over everyone, so I felt safe crossing. It's a wonderful place not just for the scenery, but also for this kind of thoughtful care✨ And📣 if you spot Mt. Fuji, take a picture right away! It might get hidden by the clouds in an instant😂 📍 Long Zip Slide There are also activities where you glide through the air right next to the bridge. Just watching the zip slide looks fun, but I'm definitely on team "you absolutely have to try it!" The sensation of sliding down all at once while looking at Mt. This highly prestigious shrine is the Ichinomiya of Izu Province. It boasts the highest number of visitors in Shizuoka Prefecture, and the grounds are quite large. It is also known as the shrine where Minamoto no Yoritomo prayed for the revival of the Genji clan. Within the grounds, there is a stone bench where Minamoto no Yoritomo and Masako are said to have rested during their 100-day daily visit. After entering the grounds and walking a short distance, you will see Itsukushima Shrine and the sacred pond on your left. The red bridge and shrine building stand out against the green scenery, making it a popular spot. Mishima Station is often used for visiting Mt. Fuji 🗻 On a clear day, you can see Mt. Fuji right in front of you, but unfortunately it was cloudy on this day and I couldn't see it 😭 There are many sweets with a Mt. [Access] About a 15-minute walk from Mishima Station on the Tokaido Line [Attractions] ~A shrine built along the Genbei River~ It is located on the same grounds as the Toki no Kane Bell. Long ago, there was a large stone called Mitsuishi along the Genbei River, and it is said that Mitsuishi Shrine was built on top of it to enshrine Inari. The current shrine is said to have been built in 1991. The flow of the Genbei River that can be seen from the shrine is also very picturesque.

I went to the Genpei River in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture! If you go to Mishima, this is a must-visit spot. It's my number one recommended spot in Mishima City! It's located less than a 10-minute walk from Mishima Station. The river was originally full of garbage, but thanks to the wise efforts of local people, it has been restored to its beautiful state.
