4-Days Tanzania Private Budget Safari: Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater
This 4-day private safari is perfect for travelers seeking a budget-friendly yet immersive wildlife adventure in northern Tanzania. You will experience three iconic destinations: Tarangire National Park with its massive elephant herds and ancient baobabs, the predator-rich Serengeti plains, and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, home to a dense population of wildlife. Staying at public campsites ensures a more authentic safari experience while keeping costs low, and traveling privately allows flexibility and personal attention from your guide.
Day 1: Arusha → Tarangire National Park (Ngedere or Mtombu Campsite)
Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Arusha. You will drive approximately 2–3 hours through scenic landscapes to reach Tarangire National Park. Known for its enormous elephant herds, majestic baobab trees, and diverse birdlife, Tarangire offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. On arrival, your guide will take you on a game drive through the park, where you can spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, and countless bird species. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed within the park amidst nature. In the evening, you will transfer to your chosen public campsite—either Ngedere Campsite or Mtombu Campsite—where you will have dinner and spend the night under the stars in basic but comfortable facilities.
Day 2: Tarangire → Serengeti National Park (Nyani Campsite)
After breakfast, you will depart Tarangire and drive toward the Serengeti National Park, passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This scenic route offers stunning views of rolling hills, Maasai villages, and occasional wildlife sightings. Arriving in the Serengeti, you will embark on an afternoon game drive in the Seronera region, which is known for its high concentration of predators including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The vast plains of the Serengeti provide endless opportunities for photographing wildlife in their natural habitat. At sunset, you will check in at Nyani Campsite, your budget accommodation for the night. Here, you will enjoy dinner and fall asleep to the sounds of the African wilderness.
Day 3: Full Day in Serengeti (Nyani Campsite)
Wake up early for a full day of exploration in the Serengeti. Your morning game drive will allow you to witness the sunrise over the endless savannah, when predators are most active and many herbivores are grazing. Spend the day exploring different areas of the park, searching for the “Big Five”—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, and numerous antelope species. Your guide will help you spot animals and share fascinating facts about their behavior and the ecosystem. Lunch can be enjoyed as a picnic in the park or back at Nyani Campsite. In the evening, relax at your campsite, enjoy dinner, and reflect on the day’s amazing wildlife encounters.
Day 4: Serengeti → Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha (Simba Campsite)
On your final day, you will have an early breakfast before departing the Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival, descend into the crater for a half-day game drive in one of the most stunning wildlife habitats in the world. The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to lions, rhinos, hippos, zebras, hyenas, and many antelope species. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the crater, taking in the breathtaking scenery. After your game drive, ascend the crater rim and begin your drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon. The safari ends here, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s iconic wildlife and landscapes
