The world is big and waiting for you to explore. Chase your dreams while you are young. Working Holiday in the United States
2021 is the year I go to the United States to pursue my dreams, and it is also the year I successfully pursue my Thai Sawadee girlfriend!
This year has also brought me a lot of inspiration and reflections in my life.
There are many stories and they are very long. I can’t recall so many things at once, so I will just write Part 1 today!
Anyway, no one will read it, so I'll just write whatever I want.
The story begins in 2019. In 2019, I was a senior in college and was wandering in the corridor outside after class. I happened to see
There was a notice on the bulletin board saying about working holiday in the United States. At that time, I thought that I had never been to the United States in my life. Boys who like to watch NBA or American TV series all have an American dream!
With this idea in mind, why not go to the United States to make some money and experience more while you are still young! Why Not?!
So I successfully signed up with my friend before the end of the year, and also got an interview for a working holiday at a hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah with my broken English!
I still remember that during the interview, I lied to him and told him that I loved Mitchell from the NBA Jazz and he was the MVP (he hadn’t been traded to the Cavaliers at that time). It seems that because of this, I successfully interviewed at the same hotel with my friend 😵
However, the sudden outbreak of the epidemic in 2019 caused a severe blow to the local tourism industry in the United States. In March 2020, we were informed that this working holiday would be forced to stop.
At this time, I was shocked and thought, damn, my American dream is about to end before it even began. I know that the requirements for participating in the American working holiday are very high. At that time, I kept looking for information to see if there was any way to participate in 2021, but the results I finally got seemed to be only big rock walls, or I had to get a master's degree to continue to sign up...
So I did everything I could to deliberately get stuck on the big rock wall, and deliberately didn't submit my TOEIC test so that the school would force me to study abroad, but I didn't have to go to school to study and attend classes. I only had to pay more than 500 yuan in tuition every six months to maintain my college student status 😂
And at that time, I thought if I took one or two more high-speed rail student discount trips from Tainan to Taipei, wouldn’t I have made back my money? Hahahaha 🙈
Since I succeeded in climbing the big wall, I asked my family in the same year to let me pursue my dream again in 2020. Surprisingly, they agreed and did not force me to find a job outside.
Then in 2021, the successful invention of the vaccine and the gradual relaxation of the US government's policies allowed me to restart my long-lost American dream.
But it seems that due to the epidemic, there were not many options for me to choose from. Fortunately, I chose a deserted rural place and successfully applied for a job in South Dakota - Mountain Rushmore, South Dakota - Mount Rushmore National Park, which started my work trip in the United States 🇺🇸
