Goðafoss Waterfall Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Life Photo: The Godafoss Waterfall in Iceland has a healing magic!
After experiencing a blizzard in the northeast, the whole of Iceland·Europe has entered a world of ice and snow. Walking around the island, I have seen waterfalls of all sizes, but when the surging 'Waterfall of the Gods' in the ice and snow came into view, I was still greatly shocked.
.
In AD 1000, Iceland converted to Christianity. In order to show their devotion, Icelanders from house to house abandoned all other idols in their homes except for Christianity. Therefore, this body of water 'Waterfall of the Gods' is also called 'Waterfall of All Gods'.
.
Perhaps it really has the magic bestowed by the gods. A thousand years ago, it accepted people's individual beliefs. A thousand years later, to feel this flying waterfall of thousands of miles of ice, it can still help me throw the complicated thoughts behind my head, away from the noise, noise and chaos, what remains is the inner peace and ease.

Meet the Aurora Borealis at Godafoss
Finallay my dream came true, being able to meet the Aurora Borealis in Iceland, what a wonderful Journey. The day we intended to see the waterfall at Godafosa, unfortunately it was already dark when we arrived. But we still went down to the location. After not getting the photos we were hoping for, we decided to move on. Suddenly we saw above the sky a tinge of aurora which was initially thin then lit up brightly and danced, the Aurora Borealis that we were waiting for finally appeared amazingly.
The majestic Goðafoss Waterfall Iceland 🇮🇸
#timetotravel
My visit to Goðafoss waterfall in Iceland left me utterly mesmerized. Located in the country's north, it's often referred to as the "Waterfall of the Gods," and for good reason. As I approached the falls, the sound of rushing water grew louder, and suddenly, I was met with a breathtaking sight.
Goðafoss spans 30 meters wide and plunges into a serene, aqua-colored pool, creating a picture-perfect scene. The contrast between the stark volcanic rock and the vibrant water is simply stunning. It's easy to see why this place earned its divine nickname.
What makes this waterfall even more special is its historical significance. It played a pivotal role in Iceland's conversion to Christianity in the year 1000, making it a place of both natural wonder and cultural importance.
Goðafoss is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Iceland's scenic wonders.

Blue Ice Cave in Iceland
Blue ice caves are natural caves formed inside glaciers. When the glacier melts, the water flow erodes the ice layer at the bottom of the glacier, creating space. The ice inside the glacier absorbs light of various colors, and because the penetration power of blue light waves is stronger, what we see now is blue. Blue ice caves are usually the most spectacular during the winter freezing period and early spring thaw.
If you ever go to Iceland in wintertime visiting the ice caves is a must do. You’ll need to come in a cold period as you walk on the frozen glacier lagoons and the ice caves are actually ice bergs stuck in the frozen ice. You need a local guide to keep you safe on the ice, very warm clothes and then just go explore. The caves change every year and always look different. Every time I come here I’m so amazed about what nature can create and its forces. The glaciers and ice from it are just incredible!

Icelandic itinerary and season selection advice
When will you come to Iceland?
Aurora's most observable month is from September to April, and the blue ice cave is visible from October to March, so if you really want to see Aurora and experience the Blue Ice Cave, you have to be in these months. coming. However, due to the extreme night phenomenon in December, it is recommended to go to October, November, February, and March. At midnight in February, at 9:00, and at 6:00, there is still plenty of sunshine. Touring.
Small advice on the itinerary:
1 Do not schedule too tight! Stay in the place you like very much for a night, such as the Straw Mountain, near the glacial lake, because it is very likely that the weather is very violent and it is impossible to visit.
2 Allow enough time for the event you want to participate in. In the summer, there are glacial lake cruises, horse-riding tours, boat-to-sea whale watching and other summer-specific projects. In winter (including part of spring and autumn), there are winter-specific projects such as blue ice caves and snowmobiles. After booking the project, give enough time for these experiences and try not to travel long distances to the project site.

Vatnajökull National Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Interstellar Crossing Vatnajökull
Vatnajökull National Park is the largest glacier in Europe and the third largest in the world, second only to the Antarctic and Greenland glaciers. It is also the filming location of the famous movie "Interstellar". Being there in person is truly surreal, and can only be described as mind-blowing. The main feature of Vatnajökull National Park is the diverse scenery formed by the combined effects of rivers, glaciers, volcanoes, and geothermal activity. In the park, you can also see various birds, Arctic foxes, and even reindeer. It is a great place to enjoy nature. Vatnajökull National Park includes the entire Vatnajökull glacier and its vast surrounding areas. The easiest way to visit is to take the Route 1 along the way to see Svartifoss waterfall, glacier lakes, diamond beaches, and more. If you want to visit the northern or western parts of the glacier, you need to drive a four-wheel drive vehicle, and it is only passable in the summer.
In "Game of Thrones", most of the scenes beyond the Wall and north of the Wall were filmed in Vatnajökull National Park, including the iconic location of the Wall. Visitors to Vatnajökull Glacier almost always try glacier hiking, admiring the bizarre glacier structures and the glacier texture mixed with volcanic ash. Under the guidance of professional guides, visitors need to wear professional climbing shoes and equip themselves with ice claws, ice axes and other tools. This is because there are many large cracks and deep holes on the surface of the glacier, and a slight mistake can lead to falling into them. Walking on the vast ice sheet, the eyes are filled with a white world, and time seems to be frozen, making people feel like they have returned to the distant ice age. In addition to the endless glacier, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon (also known as Jökulsárlón Lake) at the southern end of Vatnajökull National Park is also one of the must-visit attractions for tourists. Jökulsárlón Lake is the largest glacier lake in Iceland. Riding on an amphibious boat, visitors can see the huge floating icebergs moving slowly on the blue water surface and get up close to the various shaped icebergs that have been floating for thousands of years. In addition, from November to March of the following year, visitors to Vatnajökull National Park can also enter the Blue Ice Cave for a visit.
Ice Hiking Adventure at Vatnajokull
and my last treat for ice was at #vatnajökull where i had my unforgettable glacier hike on Iceland's largest glacier and Europe's largest glacier mass (area of roughly 8300 sq. km). I was also introduced to using crampon & ice axe for the first time.
My advice, to save all the hassle just hop on the tour bus from Reykjavik & they'll bring you to the Skaftafell entrance. You are now ready to embark on a fascinating hike among the glacier tongue! Say hello to the majestic ice sculptures, ridges, deep sinkholes (Moulin) & "dirt cone"- pyramid form of ashes from volcanic eruptions

Myvatn Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Vogafjos Farm - awesome place
Nice and quiet accomodation, off the road at Myvatn area. Note that the rooms / cabins are opposite the main road and not the reception is at the other end. The rooms are designed as wooden cabins and the beds are comfortable. You will find packets of coffee and tea in the room. The bathroom is small but practical with water heater. The water pressure however is slightly lower as compared to other hotels.
Beds are comfortable and cozy.
You will need to cross the road for the breakfast. Beautiful view on the stables and cows. Breakfast is really delicious.#iceland

It is located in southeastern Iceland and includes the Vatnajokull glacier and surrounding mountains, volcanoes, lakes, glaciers, waterfalls and other natural landscapes. Dettifoss Waterfall 🇮🇸
#timetotravel
Dettifoss, located in the remote wilderness of Iceland's Vatnajökull National Park, is a force of nature that words can scarcely describe. Visiting Dettifoss was a truly humbling experience. As I approached, the roar of the cascading water echoed through the canyon, and the sheer power of this waterfall left me in awe.
Standing at the precipice, I was met with a breathtaking spectacle – a massive, churning torrent of glacial meltwater plunging over a rugged cliff into a misty abyss. The spray created rainbows that danced in the sunlight. It felt like witnessing the primal forces of Earth in action.
The hike to Dettifoss is an adventure in itself, but the reward is this majestic display of raw natural beauty. It's a place where you can reconnect with the awe-inspiring power of the natural world.
Welcome to the most powerful waterfall in Europe
This is Dettifoss in Iceland. The feeling of standing on the edge looking over this massive flow of water cannot be compared to any other falls in Europe.
