In Copenhagen, every view tells a story. Danish history, the monarchy, modern life, and the quiet happiness of its people are beautifully woven into the cityscape. Wherever you look, there’s something worth capturing—a street, a building, a moment that feels timeless. Unfortunately, our visit coincided with Christmas, so many shops and attractions were closed. A bit disappointing… but honestly, the city itself was more than enough. Walking around Copenhagen felt like strolling through an open-air museum, where every corner begged to be photographed. The cost of living was definitely a surprise at first. But once we learned that a 25% tax is included—and that it’s truly returned to citizens—it all made sense. Education and healthcare are free, and students even receive financial support to cover living expenses so they can fully focus on their studies until graduation. Interestingly, the same benefits apply to students from other EU countries, and now about 75% of students come from outside Denmark. Still, true to Denmark’s generous spirit, there’s a quiet hope behind it all: “After you graduate, please stay with us.” We started our trip by joining a free walking tour, which turned out to be the perfect choice. Learning about Danish history, business, economics, and the monarchy before exploring the city made everything much more meaningful. We also joined a 60-minute canal tour, which I highly recommend. Seeing the city from the water helped us understand the architecture, bridges, and how closely tourism is tied to everyday life here. 🚶 Free walking tours: freetour.com 🚤 Canal tour (60 minutes): Highly recommended! Getting around is super easy with the metro and buses. You can choose 24, 48, or 72-hour transport passes. I was in Denmark last month in Copenhagen and Odense. And I was shocked by these trucks carrying people drinking, playing the music loudly, and they going crazy on the streets. I was surprised and asked my friend, "What is that?!" My friend told me that this old tradition of high-school graduation ceremony of Danish people, that they will put funny words on their truck, go pick up their classmates from their houses, drinking alcohol and show off how cool they are 😎😂 I was really surprised thay they can drink at that age cuz in my experience we needed to wait until 18-20 to drink legally from where I came from. The museum is right next to the main railway station in Odense, which is very convenient. The museum building is an old locomotive shed from 1954 with 21 tracks, displaying the history of Danish railways from 1847 to the present day. You can see locomotives and carriages of various types and ages, some of which you can even go inside and experience. My favorite is the Royal Train, where you can see how the Danish royal family traveled in the past. I also saw some models of railway ferries and learned about the relationship between railways and shipping. In addition to viewing the exhibition, I also participated in some activities, such as riding a mini train, exploring the locomotive master's workshop, playing in the children's railway station, and there is an outdoor playground. I think the museum is very suitable for the whole family to come together. There are many interesting and educational things. I spent a great day in the museum and learned a lot about trains and Denmark. I highly recommend it to friends who like trains.
