Admire its ornate facade and the Renaissance altarpiece inside . 🍷 Afternoon – local flavors & quiet streets Stroll through Olite’s charming old town, where medieval mansions line narrow lanes. Stop for lunch at a local tavern — try pintxos or a hearty regional stew. Consider visiting a nearby winery for a tasting of Navarra’s renowned wines. Built in the 12th century, it underwent extensive renovations in the early 18th century, leaving only the original façade intact. Among the civil buildings, the Olite Palace stands out, which was completely rebuilt in 1937, while the old palace was converted into the Parador Nacional hotel. Nearby attractions include the Pitillas Lagoon, home to bird observation stations, and the Oliva Monastery across the Aragón River, featuring a striking Cistercian church and Gothic cloisters.

Pyrenees adventure in Spain ~ Navarre Autonomous Community The church, attached to the castle, was a venue for grand celebrations and solemn events held by the monarchs of Navarre. On January 17, 1925, it was declared a cultural heritage site. Its impressive bell tower stands out prominently. The church, built in Gothic style, dates back to a construction period spanning from the 12th century to the early 14th century. In front of the main entrance (which we couldn't see due to ongoing restoration), there is an original courtyard without Gothic arches. We were fortunate to visit the interior for free as a mass was being celebrated. The main altar features an impressive Renaissance altarpiece adorned with Gothic carvings of the Virgin Mary and Christ of the Good Death.

Spanish Pyrenees Hike ~ Navarra The Alcazar Palace of Olite was the residence of the kings and queens of the Kingdom of Navarre until the 16th century, when Navarre was united with Castile. In 1925, it was declared a national monument. It underwent several changes between the 13th and 15th centuries, but the most significant development occurred under King Charles III. On a chilly late autumn day, I had the chance to visit Olite Castle, one of the most stunning medieval castles in Spain 🏰. Despite the cold, the experience was absolutely worth it. The castle, once the residence of the Kings of Navarre, looks like something straight out of a fairy tale with its towers, stone walls, and hidden passages 🏯✨. Walking through its grand halls and climbing its towers gave me breathtaking views of the town and surrounding vineyards 🍇🌄. The mix of Gothic and medieval architecture, combined with the autumn atmosphere, made it feel even more magical. Even though the temperatures were freezing ❄️, exploring the castle was an unforgettable experience. If you're in Navarra, this place is a must-visit, no matter the season! 📍Olite They say it was the old capital of the Kingdom of Navarre! That's why the castle still remains. The town itself is small, so there's not much to see, but since we were going to see the castle, we walked a bit and then went to the castle. If you search for Palacio Real de Olite, the castle will come up! It really looked like Cinderella's castle. It was so so pretty. It seems prettier than the Disneyland castle... And this castle was really used in the Middle Ages!!! #HongKongFlightEvent
