The main part of the exhibition are relocated and rebuilt objects of rural architecture illustrating the living conditions of the rural population in the period from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century: residential buildings, barns, granaries, as well as mills and windmills, a forge, a church, an inn and a school. A collection of almost 7,000 museum objects in the field of material culture was also created, including historic items from the fields of agriculture, breeding, crafts and everyday life of the inhabitants of Opole villages. In the area occupied by the Museum, which covers just over 10 hectares, the full cultural landscape of the Opole village has been recreated. Homesteads and individual architectural objects are surrounded by carefully reconstructed, rich vegetation. The Museum of the Opole Countryside was established on November 14, 1961 as a scientific, research and educational institution, whose tasks include, in particular, the collection, conservation, scientific study and access to monuments of folk culture of Opole Silesia, with particular emphasis on wooden folk architecture. It was supposed to be an open-air museum of the open-air museum type. In April 1966, the Museum obtained the statute and full independence as an autonomous unit with a regional range. Subordinated and financed initially by the Provincial National Council, then the Provincial Office, and now the Marshal's Office in Opole. The foundations for the Museum of the Opole Countryside in Opole were laid as early as 1955 by Stanisław Bronicz, head of the Ethnography Department of the Opole Silesia Museum in Opole, later the first director of the Opole open-air museum. In the years 1956-58, together with the Department of Ethnography of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, he initiated penetrations and scientific research in Opole Silesia, which led to the collection of relatively abundant documentary material and the preparation of a list of over 20 historic objects, selected in the first place for transfer to the site of the future museum. For implementation, the concept of placing the transferred objects in such a way that they grouped on the one hand into homesteads representative of individual socio-economic strata, and on the other hand - into larger groups representing subregions of Opole Silesia, was approved. At the entrance there are mostly objects from the left-bank (southern) areas, in the middle - objects from the Opole poviat, and on the north side - objects from the right-bank (northern) areas of Opole Silesia. The first object erected on the premises of the Museum in 1967 was a small granary from the village of Sternalice in the Oleski poviat. The museum was opened to visitors on September 23, 1970. On the premises of the museum, 9 homesteads from the Oleskie and Opole regions were created, as well as the Kozielsko-Racibórz homestead which is under reconstruction. The vast majority of objects in these homesteads show a carcass construction of the walls. Two additional homesteads from the Nysa region present a post-and-beam half-timbered structure. In addition, the Museum has self-standing public buildings (church, school, tower, inn), free-standing cottages with a different use, a blacksmith's shop, two chapels and two windmills. The present zoo covers an area of ​​about 20 ha, and is home to over 1,200 animals from 265 species. Their estates once included the areas of today’s Katowice, Bytom, Mysłowice and many other towns in Upper Silesia. ⭐ After a fire in 1896, Franz Hubert von Tiele-Winckler rebuilt and expanded the palace, adding a Neo-Gothic east wing and a Neo-Renaissance west wing. Thanks to his imagination, the residence now has 365 rooms, 99 towers and an area of 8,000 m². Locals used to say such fast construction was possible only because the count had “signed a pact with the devil” — a story he reportedly told even to Emperor Wilhelm II. ⭐ The palace is surrounded by legends: – *The White Lady* — an English governess who fell in unrequited love and supposedly jumped from a tower. Her ghost is said to wander the halls at night. – *The cursed elevator* — after the count’s death, no one was ever able to make it work again. Attempts to repair it allegedly ended with fear, illness or misfortune. The last mechanic gave up after his house mysteriously burned down. ⭐ From the outside, the palace is breathtaking — almost like something from a fantasy film, more imagination than architectural purity. ⭐ As for the interiors, opinions vary. The tour includes about eight rooms with a few exhibits and an audio guide. Many visitors feel it’s underwhelming and much shorter than advertised. But walking around the palace grounds and through the park is absolutely worth the trip.

The Opole Silesia Museum is an institution with over 120 years of tradition. It was founded in 1900 as the City Museum in Opole (Städtisches Museum Oppeln). In 1950, its name was changed to the Opole Silesia Museum, under which it operates today. From the beginning of its existence, the Museum was a multi-department institution. Currently, it consists of seven substantive departments: Archaeology, Museum Education, Ethnography, History, Nature, Art and the Monument Conservation Workshop. In Opole, the Museum has several exhibition facilities: the baroque former Jesuit building and the new exhibition pavilion form the Main Building at Mały Rynek 7. Right next to it, at ul. Saint Wojciecha 9 there is a Tenement House, and at ul. Ozimska 10, in the building of a 19th-century inn, there is the Gallery of the Opole Silesia Museum. In Góra św. Anna, there is a branch of the institution - the Museum of Insurgent Action. This is a regional museum with over a hundred years of history! This is where you can see a model of Opole from the mid-18th century, a collection of extraordinary excavations from an ancient settlement in Ostrówek in Opole, but also extraordinary Tułowice porcelain and a collection of works by Jan Cybis. A unique attraction is the tenement house at ul. Saint Wojciecha 9, in which five apartments are presented: each in the style that was in force in the furniture industry in the years 1890 - 1965. In addition to furniture, kitchen appliances and trinkets that created the atmosphere of the house, various ways of heating rooms are presented - tiled stoves and cast iron stoves. A museum that collects collections relating to the history and activities of the University of Opole and the Opole universities from which it was established. It was created thanks to the initiative of the then rector of the University of Opole, prof. Stanisław Nicieja. Since its inauguration, March 10, 2014, it has been based at Collegium Maius of the University of Opole. The aim of the museum is to collect collections regarding the history and activities of the University of Opole and the Opole universities from which it was created (the Higher Pedagogical School in Opole and the Opole branch of the Catholic University of Lublin). In addition, it will organize exhibitions and lectures on culture, science and art. The museum has five exhibition rooms in which it exhibits both its own collections and deposits from other institutions, and also includes a chapel dedicated to St. Saint Wojciech from the 14th century (rebuilt many times, with post-war decoration).
