Osaka Shinsaibashi Sanrio | Tons of Limited Editions & Great Shopping!
Whenever I travel to Japan, I always make a pilgrimage to Sanrio to see what's new. I visited the "Sanrio Gift Gate" near Shinsaibashi. This two-story store is a joy to explore! They have loads of new arrivals and limited-edition plushies, plus a massive selection of toys, stationery, stickers, towels, keychains, makeup bags, and more. It's absolutely amazing, and the plushies are insanely cute,
I wanted to buy everything—guess which plushie I ended up getting.
For Hello Kitty fans, there are tons of amazing styles to choose from and shop to your heart's content! If you love 💕 Hello Kitty, I highly recommend checking it out.
Remember to bookmark this spot and visit the store to see if you can find your favorite goodies!

This Osaka brunch spot recommended by Xiao Wu is seriously amazing!.
I had to make a dedicated post just to introduce it!!!
Sakaisuji Club ❤️
I haven't stopped thinking about it since I got back to Taiwan...
You absolutely have to order the French toast set!
The moment you cut into it, it's incredibly moist and tender.
The texture is like a cross between a pancake and a soufflé.
Plus, they give you a huge pitcher of honey to pour as you please (super generous).
I can honestly say it's the best French toast I've ever had in my life G!!
And it's not just the French toast that's amazing,
E-V-E-R-Y S-I-N-G-L-E side dish on the plate is incredibly delicious too!
The vibe in the restaurant is top-notch~
We happened to sit right by the window. Basking in the sunlight, surrounded by the mouthwatering aroma of freshly baked bread and the elegant, relaxing music... it was pure bliss 0= .
If you're coming to Osaka, I highly recommend checking this place out!

Tenma: The Ultimate Osaka Food District to Eat Until You Drop.
When visiting Osaka, you absolutely can't miss the local food scene. The city has so many different districts packed with restaurants just waiting to be explored.
The Tenma Market area is definitely a must-visit spot. The food prices are incredibly affordable! You don't have to order heavy meals—just grab small bites and go on a massive food-hopping tour. You can wander from one spot to the next. Some places have tables, others are standing-only, and there's no cover charge (otoshi). Here are the spots we checked out:
🩷 Hassen Tenma (大衆酒場 八銭 天満店) - Great for chicken wings and crispy chicken skin.
🩷 Chutoro to Tonsoku Honten (中トロと豚足 本店) - Food here starts at just 1 yen!
🩷 Izakaya Ichiendo (居酒屋 壱円堂) - Prices at this spot start at 69 yen.
🩷 Shin-jidai Osaka-Tenma (新時代 大阪天満店) - Prices start at 49 yen here.
I have to say, it's super filling and completely worth it. If you love a good drink, do not miss the highballs—they are ridiculously cheap!
Just get off at JR Tenma Station, and you're right there.

Universal Studios Japan, Osaka.
Another amusement park I highly recommend! If you love thrilling, over-the-top fun, this is the place to be. There are various themed zones to experience. Let me tell you, one day is definitely enough to hit everything and even replay some of your favorite zones. Plus, if you're traveling solo, you can use the single-rider lines to get on rides even faster! You definitely need to plan your day well, as the wait times for rides can fluctuate from super crowded to not busy at all.
❤ For anyone wanting to visit, you don't need to buy any extra passes to enjoy all the rides. For the best ticket prices, try to keep an eye out for special promotions—they're incredibly cheap and totally worth it!
If you love amusement parks that let you relive your childhood, I highly recommend this place!

Have you bought fruit at Kizu Market? Kobayashi is definitely a great choice!
After enjoying sashimi, sea urchin, raw oysters, and other fresh seafood at Kizu Market, do you also pick up some fruit while you're there?
There are a few fruit stalls inside the market, but I highly recommend Kobayashi Store. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly, and the owner even speaks English and a little Cantonese! They offer a wide, fresh variety of fruits. March happens to be strawberry season 🍓, so they have many different kinds of strawberries to choose from. They were so delicious that I even bought a box to take back to Hong Kong before leaving. They were super sweet and packed with an amazing strawberry flavor.

Kaiyukan is absolutely worth it!
I highly recommend booking your tickets directly through the Kaiyukan website before your trip. It costs just over 500 THB, but it's super convenient. Once you arrive, you can just show your QR code to get in without having to waste time waiting in line.
Right at the entrance, they offer a free photo service, and you get to take home one really cute printed photo!
The interior is absolutely stunning and so enjoyable to explore. You'll lose track of time before you even realize it! All the animals look plump, robust, and completely healthy. They are incredibly adorable, and many of them seem so cheerful and welcoming to visitors. I was thoroughly impressed.
The zoning and lighting are beautifully designed. Everything is just perfect and leaves a great impression. It's a great spot for taking beautiful photos. You can easily spend hours walking around and completely forget about the time.
Once you exit, the Tempozan Ferris Wheel is right nearby, which is definitely worth a ride. The ticket isn't expensive—around 200 THB—and the views are absolutely breathtaking!

[Osaka, Japan · Hoshino Coffee] Shinsaibashi Store · Soufflé & Breakfast Recommendations.
If you're tired from shopping in Shinsaibashi, the Kita-Shinsaibashi store located right by the shopping arcade is a popular spot to take a break.
The interior features a calm, retro European style, and the spacious sofa seating makes it a perfect place to relax.
🌸 Highly Recommended:
· Hand-Drip Coffee: Specializing in direct-fire roasted hand-drip coffee. The signature "Hoshino Blend" is smooth and slightly sweet with no bitterness. You can also choose the richer, more bitter "Hikoboshi" blend or the lighter "Orihime" blend.
Classic Soufflé Pancake: A must-order signature dish! It has a wonderfully fluffy yet substantial texture. They are made to order (takes about 20 minutes), though they are usually not available during breakfast hours.
Nagoya-Style Breakfast: Order any coffee before 11:00 AM and get complimentary toast and a hard-boiled egg. You can also pay a little extra to upgrade to French toast.
Savory Lunch Options: The thick-cut pork cutlet sandwich and curry rice also receive stellar reviews, making them great choices if you're looking for a full meal.

The Pokémon Store at Shinsaibashi PARCO.
Stepping into Osaka's Shinsaibashi PARCO, the crowds are bustling as usual. As you take the escalator to the upper floors, the city's rhythm gradually becomes lighter and more whimsical. Arriving at the floor of the Pokémon store, you step into a pocket universe where both adults and children can explore.
At the entrance, you're greeted by the three Legendary Birds—Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres—spreading their wings like grand sculptures. It serves as a symbolic gateway, full of a sense of ritual.
Walking inside, the first thing to catch your eye is a vibrant wall filled with plushies. Pikachu, Eevee, Snorlax, Fuecoco, Sprigatito... each presented in their most classic poses, looking as if they're waiting to be taken home.
But what truly makes you stop and admire is how seamlessly Pokémon has been integrated into everyday items:
· Stationery—notebooks, stickers, and pencil cases add a touch of childlike joy to your desk
· Home essentials—towels, mugs, and bento boxes bring a little more color to your daily life
· Seasonal exclusives—the cherry blossom series and the fluffy winter collection never fail to melt your heart
The true charm of these items lies not in "collecting," but in "companionship." They transform Pokémon from a mere childhood memory into a comforting presence in our everyday lives.
There isn't a trading card area here. Yet, even without the cards, you can still discover another captivating side of the Pokémon universe through the expressions of the characters. While the Shinsaibashi PARCO Pokémon Store might not be the largest flagship location, the sheer concentration of limited-edition merchandise is absolutely incredible.
The most touching scene in the store isn't the merchandise itself, but the people. It allows you to temporarily set aside your titles, age, and stress, returning to the purest form of joy. The Pokémon store is more than just a "must-visit tourist spot"—it's a place that adds a softer touch to your journey.

The Ultimate Guide to Experiencing the Explosive Retro Vibes of Tsutenkaku and Ebisucho in Osaka, Japan.
Let me share with you the stories of Tsutenkaku and the Ebisucho area, a classic Osaka travel destination bursting with retro charm! 🗼
This place captures the hearts of travelers with a totally different charm compared to the glamorous city center. 📸
First off, when you arrive at Tsutenkaku, the very first thing that catches your eye is the Tower Slider. 🎢
The thrill of sliding down from the observation deck to the ground in an instant is definitely worth experiencing at least once. 🏗️
When you head up to the observation deck, don't forget to rub the soles of the Billiken god's feet, which is said to bring good luck! 👣
The Shinsekai district surrounding the tower is much more dazzling at night than during the day. 🏮
Taking pictures under the giant pufferfish signs and neon lights will instantly make you feel like the main character in a Japanese movie. 🎬
The area near Ebisucho Station is full of hidden gems in every alley, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll. 🚶♂️
When it comes to food, Kushikatsu is undeniably the top pick. 🍢
The crispiness of various skewered ingredients freshly deep-fried to perfection is truly top-notch. 🍺
However, there is one ironclad rule you must remember here. 🙅♂️
Because the sauce containers are shared by everyone, double-dipping your bitten food is an absolute no-no! 🥫
As long as you follow this simple rule, you can become a flawless Osaka foodie too. 🍱
If you want to see the authentic, down-to-earth, and welcoming face of Osaka hidden behind the glitz, Tsutenkaku and Ebisucho are an absolute must-visit, not just an option. 🌟
Enjoy the relaxation of your trip in the market alleys or cozy local pubs where the everyday lives of the locals naturally blend in. 🍶
I hope you step away from the usual tourist spots and fully immerse yourself in the deeper charms of Osaka! ✈️

The Vibe of Osaka During Cherry Blossom Season!!
The ultimate must-do when visiting Japan 🎌 is catching the cherry blossom season, which usually runs from March to April every year. This was our first time seeing the cherry blossoms gradually bloom across all the cities we visited. Whether exploring downtown Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, or Uji, we were completely immersed in the natural beauty of the sakura trees.
It's not just tourists who get excited; locals also love heading out for picnics, relaxing, and enjoying meals together under the trees during this time. The window to catch them in full bloom at their absolute peak is incredibly short—only about 1 to 2 weeks—before the petals start to fall. Plus, the weather is fantastic, with crisp nights around 8-15°C and pleasant days between 15-21°C. For this trip, my partner and I traveled independently and booked our stay via Trip, which was super convenient and made communicating with our accommodation a breeze. We planned our own itinerary covering both city highlights and day trips on a budget, without focusing much on shopping. We spent around 30k+ total for a very comfortable and chill getaway. Our next adventure will be right during the autumn foliage season. If you want to follow our itinerary, make sure to stay tuned 🥰🍂

A Great Choice for Kids to Burn Off Energy in Umeda, Osaka .
I've been meaning to share this😆 our recent trip to a playhouse in Umeda, Osaka!! For parents who want to go on a shopping spree in Umeda,
but also want to make sure the kids have fun,
this indoor park is an absolute lifesaver✨ (it helps out quite a bit😂)
The little ones can burn off their energy at the playhouse,
while the adults split up for some serious shopping🛍️!
Get this🙊 they even offer a two-hour drop-off childcare service
(my husband and I just took turns keeping an eye on them while the other went shopping)!
Play Facilities
A carousel😱, a play kitchen, a building blocks area, a ball pit, and slides. The playhouse isn't huge, but it's small and perfectly formed.
They offer a two-hour childcare service, and I saw that the staff were incredibly professional and enthusiastic. Even though they speak Japanese, they do their best to use body language to play with the kids, leaving parents free to shop 'til they drop at the nearby mega malls!
The playhouse is located inside a huge shopping mall, so dining, shopping, and entertainment are all right there!
Things to Note:
· Booking the drop-off childcare service might be very popular on weekends and holidays
· The equipment inside is safe and suitable for toddlers up to 8-year-olds, and kids must wear grip socks to enter
· There is a small lounge area inside where adults can sit and relax

Budgeting Tips for a 5-Day, 4-Night Trip to Kansai, Japan 2026.
Self-guided
This trip ended up costing only 19,893.17 THB.
It was a super chill trip, focusing on soaking up the vibes. I originally planned to hit up about 20 spots, but I ended up spending way too much time at certain places, so I didn't quite make it to 20 hahaha. But hey, it was totally worth it!
For this trip, I maximized my Trip Coins for discounts (check out the details in the pics I posted).
Let's dive into the details... Here’s the actual order of my bookings:
1. Flight Tickets: Decided to try a Chinese airline this time with a layover (for a new experience!). Flew Shandong Airlines round-trip from Bangkok to Qingdao to Osaka. Full service + 23kg baggage allowance. Not bad at all, right? Meals included for just 6,647.53 THB.
2. Train Pass: This is a must-have! You’re missing out if you don’t get it!!! It’s the 3-Day Kansai Railway Pass. You get unlimited rides across the Kansai region (excluding JR lines), and the days don’t even have to be consecutive. All for 1,396.97 THB.
3. Hotel: I chose a place a bit outside the city center but super close to the subway—just a 250-meter walk! Stayed at the Plaza In Miyakojima Hotel for 4 nights at an absolute steal of 1,456.49 THB.
4. Travel Insurance: Amazing deal here! I paid entirely with Trip Coins, so my out-of-pocket cost was exactly 0 THB.
5. eSIM: Great prices as always—super affordable! I bought data for both Japan and my layover in Qingdao for a total of 319.80 THB.
6. Another Must-Have Pass: The 1-Day Osaka Amazing Pass. Offers unlimited subway rides in Osaka and free entry to tons of tourist attractions for only 72.38 THB (saved a ton using Trip Coins!).
7. Exchanging Money: I only exchanged 10,000 THB. I wasn’t planning on going on a massive shopping spree, so this was more than enough. It covered food, souvenirs, essentials, a little makeup, and some vitamins with room to spare!
Booking Tips: I started booking everything 5 months in advance. Taking it one step at a time allowed me to steadily rack up Trip Coins to use for discounts. Honestly, I think I nailed it! 👍🏻
If you're a travel enthusiast like me, definitely give this a try. Keep hustling for those trips—never give up! 🎉🎉🎉

A great value-for-money apartment-style hotel in Osaka.
Osaka Accommodation - Zhuyi Shin-Imamiya Branch 3
It's located right outside the Nankai Electric Railway and has elevators. However, if you're taking the JR line and need an elevator, you'll have to walk quite a bit from the East Exit, and pushing luggage along the asphalt road can be a bit of a hassle.
On my first day, I stayed on the 9th floor. The room's balcony was right next to the Nankai and JR train tracks, making the roaring noise quite deafening. I reached out to customer service, but since they were fully booked that day, they moved me to an 11th-floor room the following day. The noise was still there, but it was a significant improvement. I highly recommend requesting the 11th floor or higher when making a reservation.
Other than that, the room had everything you could possibly need: a washing machine, a kitchenette, and a bathtub. It was also spotless, and the bed was super comfortable to sleep in, complete with down pillows and a down comforter.
If you can look past the noise—which is something to seriously consider—the price and the spaciousness make it an absolute steal overall.

🌸🇯🇵 Osaka & Kyoto Sakura Trip – A Truly Beautiful Spring Journey
Visiting Osaka during the cherry blossom season was an unforgettable experience. The entire city was covered in soft pink sakura, creating a peaceful yet vibrant atmosphere everywhere I went.
One of the main highlights was Osaka Castle and the surrounding Osaka Castle Park. The view of the castle framed by blooming cherry blossoms was absolutely stunning — a perfect blend of history and nature. It’s also a great place to take a slow walk and enjoy the seasonal scenery.
I also visited Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto, where the elevated wooden stage offers breathtaking views of sakura across the hills. The traditional architecture combined with cherry blossoms creates a very iconic and memorable scene.
Another unforgettable spot was Arashiyama. The area is calm and scenic, especially with the river, mountains, and cherry blossoms coming together. Walking through this area felt very relaxing and refreshing.
Back in Osaka, I explored Tsutenkaku, which has a more nostalgic and local vibe. The surrounding streets are lively and full of character, offering a different side of Osaka compared to the modern city areas.
At night, Dotonbori was full of energy with bright lights, famous signboards, and amazing food. It’s the perfect place to enjoy Osaka’s street food culture and end the day with a vibrant atmosphere.
What made this trip special was the combination of sakura scenery, cultural landmarks, and city life. The weather during spring was comfortable, and every location had its own unique charm.
💡 Tips for Sakura season:
· Plan your trip around peak bloom for the best experience
· Visit popular spots early to avoid crowds
· Try both daytime and night sakura viewing
· Wear comfortable shoes — a lot of walking involved
· Don’t miss local street food, especially in Dotonbori
Overall, this Osaka (and nearby Kyoto) sakura trip was truly magical — a perfect mix of nature, culture, and unforgettable memories.
Highly recommended for a spring getaway in Japan! 🌸✨

Donkey Kong Country in Osaka.
🦍 At Universal Studios Japan, Donkey Kong Country feels like a vibrant extension of Super Nintendo World, but with a slightly different vibe. While the Mario area is all about active participation, Donkey Kong leans more towards a laid-back, relaxing atmosphere.
🌴 The first impression is like stepping straight into a jungle. The area isn't massive, but there's plenty to catch your eye. You can play the bongos, snap a photo with Kong, or hop in line for Mine Cart Madness.
🎢 Mine Cart Madness.
This is the main draw. It looks just like the game, with the mine cart seemingly flying off the rails and jumping over broken tracks. At a certain point, you completely lose track of the trajectory and just soak in the thrill. It might not be the fastest roller coaster, but the overall sensation makes it one of the most unique rides in the park.
🥁 Details and Interactivity.
Bongos that respond to your rhythm, Power-Up Band activities, and little hidden scenes that come to life when you interact with them.
🥤 Jungle Beat Shakes deserves a special shoutout.
It's a small kiosk in Donkey Kong Country serving up shakes, drinks, and ice cream. Every item on the menu is heavily themed to the area, making it a must-try.
👥 Keep in mind that since this is a brand-new area, lines build up fast. The space is quite compact, so it can feel a bit cramped during peak hours. Scale-wise, the zone is actually smaller than it appears in photos.
🤍 Donkey Kong Country isn't about packing in a ton of rides; it's about taking one brilliant concept and executing it flawlessly. If you've ever played Donkey Kong, I guarantee you'll love it.
