Last year, I had the most incredible road trip to Uluru, Australia, and I have to say—it was the adventure of a lifetime. 🌄 I’ve always wanted to visit this iconic rock formation, and the journey turned out to be even more than I expected. If you're thinking of exploring the Red Centre, here's what I learned along the way! We began our trip in Alice Springs, where the excitement already started to build. The drive to Uluru was about 4-5 hours, but the stunning desert landscapes kept us entertained, and the endless blue sky made the journey feel endless and magical. 🌵 We made plenty of stops along the way to take photos, grab snacks (definitely try some Aussie Tim Tams), and just soak in the beauty of the outback. When we finally reached Uluru, it was like stepping into another world. The rock is even more magnificent in person, and you can feel the deep spiritual connection to the land. 🌅 We decided to do the Mala Walk around the base of Uluru, which was a stunning hike that took us through ancient caves and gave us a chance to learn about the area's cultural significance. If you’re into hiking, definitely don’t miss it—just be sure to carry plenty of water and wear sun protection! 🏞️ For a truly magical experience, we booked a hot air balloon ride at sunrise. Watching the sun rise over the desert while floating above the stunning landscape was surreal. I’d highly recommend this for anyone looking to add a little extra adventure to their trip. The views were jaw-dropping! 🎈 If you’re visiting Uluru, respect the cultural significance of the site to the Anangu people. Climbing Uluru is now prohibited, and I think it’s important to appreciate this natural wonder in a way that honors its deep cultural roots. After our hike and balloon ride, we took a short trip to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), another incredible rock formation. The Valley of the Winds Walk here was challenging but so rewarding. This time I want to introduce Uluru, a place in central Australia. I flew from Melbourne to Ayres Rock Airport, and the flight only took about three hours. During the three-day trip to Uluru, because I didn’t know how to drive, I rented a car and had a tour guide to explain the whole journey. However, it was the winter off-season, so it became a private tour. The sunrise and sunset scenery at Uluru are very different. The sunrise is orange-red and the sunset is fiery red, which is very special. Unfortunately, Uluru can no longer be climbed due to too many accidents, so we decided to join the Kings Canyon English tour group. Climbing the Valley of the Kings is not easy either. Starting at four in the morning, each person has to carry 2 liters of drinking water up the valley, and has to climb 500 stairs in the desert under the scorching sun before starting the official 4-hour hike. However, the scenery is really unique, and you can see natural rocks and dried fossils, coupled with the beautiful view of the Eden Pool, this trip is especially suitable for those who like mountain climbing. But there are some travel tips I can share with you: 1. It is best to go to Uluru in winter, otherwise you need to wear a mosquito mask to prevent mosquitoes from flying into your mouth 2. You must drink plenty of water and keep it from your body, otherwise you will easily become dehydrated. 3. Some hotels have swimming pools. Don’t make a fuss like me. Uluru is a place you should definitely visit at least once in your life. I went there without doing any research beforehand, so I'd like to introduce some of my recommended points and things to be careful of. 💐 Recommended! I highly recommend the camel sunrise or sunset tour! ▶︎I took the sunrise tour. The sunrise was fantastic because there was only desert around. ✨ ▶︎When I went, the camel tour included champagne, and after getting off the camel, we moved a little on the bus and enjoyed champagne at a place where you could see Ayers Rock beautifully. 🍾 Cautions ① It's very humid! However, it may have become no different from the midsummer in Japan recently. ▶︎You definitely need 2 liters of water in a plastic bottle! Even if you drink this much, you won't feel like going to the bathroom! It was horribly hot. 💧 💞If you take a tour, there is water under the bus, so you don't have to worry if you run out of water! ▶︎I ran out of water and got heat stroke. 💧 ② Act early! ▶︎I couldn't lock the hotel door, so I had to run and arrive just in time for the tour. When talking about the center of the world or the huge rock in central Australia, I believe everyone will say the name Uluru without any prior agreement. However, the place introduced today is not inferior to Uluru at all. It is even taller, wider and more spectacular than Uluru. This is Kata Tjuta, which is listed as a World Natural and Cultural Heritage together with Uluru. Kata Tjuta, also known as Mount Olga, was named in 1872 by explorer Ernest Giles in memory of the Russian-born Grand Duchess Queen Olga. The local government officially adopted a dual naming policy on December 15, 1993, so today, we often see these two names appearing at the same time. According to the language of the local Aboriginal people, Kata Tjuta means many heads. In fact, Kata Tjuta is indeed composed of 36 uniquely shaped dome-shaped boulders. The boulders vary in shape and size. Most of them appear brown-red when viewed from a close distance. We spent only three days in Yulara NT, Australia. it was very hot and dry there as it was in Summer time. However, it was one of our memorable adventures! Uluru Segway tour was one of our lists. It took us about two hours to get around this amazing big rock on Segway. The guide tours were very friendly and professional. They picked us up from the hotel at 5:30 am and also provided us lovely breakfast. the tour finished around 2:30 pm.
