Cao Family Courtyard
The Cao Family Courtyard, located 5 kilometers southwest of Taigu County in Shanxi Province, is in Beiguang Village.
The Cao Family Courtyard is a mansion of the Cao family, a wealthy merchant family from the Ming and Qing dynasties, also known as the 'Hall of Three Abundances,' named for the blessings of wealth, longevity, and many offspring.
Architectural features: With a unique style, it is one of the representatives of ancient traditional residential architecture in northern China. Viewed from a distance, the Cao Family Courtyard is shaped like the Chinese character for 'longevity.' This 'longevity' character courtyard is the central hall of a branch of the Cao family. It consists of three four-story hall buildings, each topped with a pavilion. The courtyard is divided into southern and northern parts, with three interconnected courtyards arranged side by side from east to west.
