Iceland
A fairy-tale like dreamy city, where the road ends with the sea and snow-capped mountains. This is the northernmost capital in the world
and the first stop on my journey through Iceland.
Here, there are houses with vibrant colors,
a church with a structure similar to basalt rock formations,
poetic and picturesque scenery accompanied by snow mountains,
and I am deeply healed by the beauty before me.
In this candy-like dazzling city,
just wandering around can yield beautiful photos.
Everywhere the eye reaches is a landscape,
unfolding around the Hallgrimskirkja Church.
To the left, at the end of the road, there is the sea, and also snow mountains,
straight ahead there will be a rainbow road,
and with a 5x zoom on the phone, you can even capture a close-up of the church.
When you take the elevator to the top of the church,
you can overlook the entire city.
The colorful houses are even more charming,
resembling the healing scenes only found in comics.
Radiant Reykjavik
Reykjavik, the northernmost capital of the world, offers a mesmerizing blend of cool urbanity and raw natural beauty. This compact city, known for its creative culture and stunning landscapes, serves as a gateway to the geological wonders of Iceland and the mysterious allure of the Northern Lights.
Begin your journey in the heart of Reykjavik with a visit to Hallgrimskirkja, the iconic church whose design was inspired by Iceland’s basalt lava flows. Its towering spire offers unparalleled views of the city and its colorful rooftops. Nearby, the Harpa Concert Hall, a marvel of modern architecture with its glass facade reflecting the vibrant harbor and sky, hosts a range of concerts and cultural events that showcase Iceland’s rich artistic heritage.
Don’t miss the chance to soak in the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon, just a short drive from the city. This spa is renowned for its healing waters and surreal setting in the middle of a black lava field. Back in Reykjavik, explore the old harbor area where you can sample fresh seafood straight from the North Atlantic, or venture into one of the city's many cafes to try Icelandic delicacies like skyr or fermented shark for the more adventurous.
For those chasing the aurora borealis, the best times to visit are from September to April when the nights are darkest. Numerous tours depart from Reykjavik, offering guided experiences to find the best viewing spots for this spectacular natural phenomenon.
Reykjavik is also a hub for exploring the wilder parts of Iceland. Day trips can take you to see the spouting geysers, cascading waterfalls, and massive glaciers that define the Icelandic landscape. The city itself, with its friendly locals and compact size, is perfect for exploring on foot, offering a warm welcome to travelers in search of unique cultural experiences and the untouched beauty of the natural world.

The days of the midnight sun in Iceland are about to come again
Now at ten o'clock at night in Iceland,
the horizon still has a faint, lingering daylight.
I know
the days when the sun never sets are about to come again.
In another month,
the night will become blurry and in two more months,
the darkness will be unveiled by the dawn.
Time in Iceland really flies.
This year's winter felt especially short.
I hardly had the chance to make use of my thermal underwear
before the spring that is about to arrive.
Thinking about the soon-to-come beautiful sunsets,
midnight sun,
my heart is truly leaping with joy.

Hallgrímskirkja, Iceland's iconic church, stands as a testament to the country's rich cultural heritage and unique architectural marvels. Located in the heart of Reykjavík, this striking Lutheran parish church is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks, drawing visitors from around the world.
Designed by the renowned Icelandic architect Guðjón Samúelsson, Hallgrímskirkja's distinctively modernist expressionist style is inspired by the country's natural landscapes, particularly the basalt lava flows and rugged cliffs. Its towering facade, resembling the jagged peaks of Iceland's mountains, rises dramatically into the sky, creating a commanding presence on the city skyline.
At the church's entrance, visitors are greeted by a grand bronze door adorned with intricate reliefs depicting scenes from Icelandic folklore and Christian symbolism. Inside, the cavernous nave is bathed in natural light streaming through towering stained glass windows, creating an ethereal atmosphere for worship and contemplation.
The highlight of a visit to Hallgrímskirkja is ascending to the top of its tower, where panoramic views of Reykjavík and beyond unfold in all directions. From this vantage point, visitors can marvel at the colorful rooftops of the city, the sparkling waters of Faxa Bay, and the distant mountains looming on the horizon.
Hallgrímskirkja stands not only as a place of worship but also as a symbol of Iceland's enduring spirit and cultural identity, inviting visitors to explore its history, architecture, and breathtaking vistas. #tripstars #travel
Hallgrimskirkja, more shocking than the picture
Before going, I thought the model was a reference to a spaceship, but after going, I learned that the inspiration came from Iceland's unique fault limestone. The whole looks like an organ. The weather was good when I went, and the sun shone directly into the church. Compared with the gorgeous churches in Western Europe, there is a different sense of sacredness~
Reykjavik winter citywalk route
❄️In Iceland's winter, the days are short and the nights are long, the sun doesn't rise until 9:30 in the morning, so there's no need to get up early to watch the sunrise, so we easily set off from the hotel and started the city walk in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
🌅9:30 Start from the Sun Voyager to watch the sunrise, determine the sunrise time and hotel distance one day in advance, and set off in advance.
🕍10:15 Go to the City Hall and Tjörnin, where there is a three-dimensional map of Iceland, and you can also learn about Iceland's geography. Half of Tjörnin is frozen, and you can have a snowball fight on it.
🏰11:30 Arrive at Hallgrímskirkja, the landmark building of Reykjavik, climb to the top of the church, you can overlook the entire Reykjavik, it really feels like being in a Nordic fairy tale, it's breathtaking.
🚶♀️12:30 Walk along the Rainbow Walkway and enjoy lunch.
🕙14:00 Visit the Tintin Museum, the only museum in the world that specializes in Tintin collections, it's very unique, adults can go too, go and experience it for yourself!
🛍️16:00 Go shopping on Laugavegur Commercial Street, most shops close at 18:00.
🍽️18:00 Enjoy dinner.
🎇19:30 After dinner, take a walk to Harpa Concert Hall, a building with a unique exterior.
🎉20:00 Return to the hotel to rest, or go in search of the Northern Lights.
🌈On the second night in Iceland, we saw very strong Northern Lights.
Although Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland, it is not large in area, and city walking is very relaxed.
🛍️About shopping:
Prices in Iceland are very expensive, but I highly recommend the "BLUE LAGOON" volcanic ash cleansing mask! It's not tight at all, it's very easy to use! The Silica Mud Mask, after using it, the skin is smooth! It's the best cleansing mask I've ever used! The airport shop is more cost-effective than the city shop!
1️⃣Geysir geyser erupts very frequently, we watched it several times, and even once it erupted twice in a row;
2️⃣Gullfoss and Silfra Fissure are both very shocking;
3️⃣Be sure to wear ice claws, otherwise some very slippery places can only be walked on the ground;
4️⃣There are many groups going to the Golden Circle, and the whole Golden Circle is generally a day trip.
The first stop in Iceland - Hallgrímskirkja Church
A must-visit spot in Reykjavik
【Hallgrímskirkja Church】
√Hallgrímskirkja Church is located at the end of Skólavörðustígur Street in the central district of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. If you walk along this street in the northwest direction, you will enter the main street of the old city, Laugavegur Street.
By the way, everyone knows that there is a rainbow road in Reykjavik. When you walk along Skólavörðustígur Street towards Laugavegur Street, you can see the road turn into a rainbow painting in the last hundred meters.
Those who have been to other Nordic regions will find that almost all churches, whether in appearance or interior decoration, are extremely simple, a typical Nordic cold style.
Christianity in the Nordic countries belongs to the Lutheran sect
It is also a branch of Protestantism, the main principle of which is 'simplicity'.
So you won't see any fancy decorations and designs inside the church, just four white walls and a cross.
The Nordic minimalist style is completely opposite to the Baroque style in Western and Southern Europe.
The designer of Hallgrímskirkja Church is Guðjón Samúelsson.
His design inspiration comes from Iceland's unique basalt lava flow landscape combined with the shape of an organ (a very representative one is the rock on the side of the black sand beach).
It can't be said that there is no difference, but it is exactly the same. This church was started in 1945 and took 38 years to complete in 1986.
The designer Guðjón Samúelsson never saw his design work completed before his death (he died in 1950).
The secret name of Hallgrímskirkja Church
It is named to commemorate the Icelandic poet 'Hallgrímur'.
The statue in front of the church is a memorial to another Icelandic legendary explorer --【Leif Erikson】.
This adventurous Viking is recognized as the first European to discover North America (500 years earlier than Columbus).
Strictly speaking, Leif was of Norwegian descent, but because his parents met and he was born in Iceland, according to the 'birthplace' principle, it is natural and reasonable for him to be considered an Icelander.
What I want to share is that, no matter what the weather, this church is worth taking a few more photos.
Because it really is one of the few representative cultural buildings in Iceland.
Hallgrimskirkja
#fallishere
We visited on Thursday this week and wow what a beautiful and calming place. Staff were helpful and the views from the top were spectacular. Worth every penny. Lovely to sit down and think for a moment. There was a place to light a candle and write down a prayer for the Sunday service, in which I did both. Please visit if you come to Iceland you will not be disappointed.
I SPENT MY HALLOWEEN LIKE THIS?
This Halloween, I took the plane and jet off to Reykjavik, Iceland - the city of fire and ice. In the heart of Reykjavik, Hallgrímskirkja stands as a poetic testament to Iceland's spirit. Conceived by architect Guðjón Samúelsson and completed in 1986, its design echoes the country's basalt columns and rugged landscapes. The church is a tribute to the famed Icelandic poet, Hallgrímur Pétursson, capturing the essence of his verses in its towering silhouette. As I explored its cavernous interior and ascended the tower, I felt the weight of history and culture embracing me.
Hallgrímskirkja isn't just a structure; it's a living chapter in Iceland's narrative, a timeless connection between the past and the present. Standing beneath its spire, I became a part of that story. How did you spend your Halloween? #HallgrímskirkjaHistory #IcelandicHeritage #ArchitecturalTales #ReykjavikAdventures #TravelThroughTime

Must Visit: Hallgrimskirkja Church 🇮🇸
#timetotravel
Hallgrímskirkja, located in Reykjavík, Iceland, is a monumental masterpiece that left me in awe. Its unique and imposing architecture, resembling the basalt columns found throughout the country's landscapes, sets it apart.
Standing in front of this towering church, I couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence. The interior is equally impressive, with a vast, minimalist design that allows the towering organ to take center stage. Ascending to the top of the church's tower provided breathtaking panoramic views of Reykjavík, the sea, and the surrounding mountains.
My visit to Hallgrímskirkja was not just a cultural experience but also a spiritual one. It's a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Iceland, offering a glimpse into the nation's unique blend of natural beauty and architectural marvels.

Most iconic landmark in Rejkjavik
Beautiful and dramatic church, Hallgrimskirkja in the heart of Rejkjavik. The view of the town from the church tower is amazing and the interior of the church is just as beautiful#mustvisit
Hallgrimskirkja, also known as the Reykjavik Church, is the largest church in Iceland and the sixth tallest building in Iceland. The exterior of the church is designed like a string of organ. The church also has a huge organ inside, 15 meters high and weighs 25 tons. Internal and external echoes. There is a viewing platform at the top of the church, which costs a fee of 900 EK for adults and 100 EK for children. You can see the beauty of the entire city on the observation deck. The church of Halgrims is located on the hills of Reykjaviks city centre, named after the famous Icelandic writer Halgrims, to commemorate his great contribution to Icelandic literature. Built in 1930, the church is a landmark in Reykjavik. It is visible in many parts of the city due to its hills in the city and the height of the building. . On the square in front of the church stands the statue of the explorer Leif Eriksson, to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the establishment of the Icelandic Parliament in 1930, a gift from the United States to Iceland. The church was designed by the famous Icelandic architect Gudjon Samuelsson, and some people like to call him a normal distribution cathedral. The church began its foundation in 1940 and was basically completed in the late 1960s. It took almost half a century to complete the work because the church was raised by the church and donated by believers. The interior of the church is a pipe organ structure. The main hall is more than 30 meters high and can accommodate 1,200 people. The main tower is 72 meters high and can take the elevator to the top floor overlooking the capital. The shape of the lava left over from the eruption of the Icelandic volcano gave him the inspiration to create his own, using local creative materials, using local architectural materials to design this church with a new landmark and an Icelandic national style.
