Mount Heng, the most beautiful of the Five Great Mountains, has 72 peaks stretching over 800 miles. Huiyan Peak is the first of these peaks, and is known as the "First Peak of Mount Heng." It is home to two of the Eight Views of Hunan: "Wild Geese Descend on the Sandbank" and "Mist and Rain on Wild Goose Peak." Huiyan Peak is named for the saying "Wild geese fly south, and rest their wings here." Legend has it that wild geese fly south, but stop here and go no further. Today, you can look out from the peak and see the lush green mountains, the Xiang River like a ribbon, and Mount Heng like a screen. You can still see the beautiful scenery of the past: ten miles of sand, hundreds of acres of reeds, thousands of waves in the sunset, and tens of thousands of wild geese. Huiyan Peak is only 96.8 meters above sea level, but it has a rich cultural heritage. It is a place of wild goose culture, Wang Fuzhi culture, famous mountain culture, longevity culture, and anti-Japanese war culture. It is the birthplace of Wang Fuzhi, a gathering place of Hunan culture, and a symbol of wild goose culture. Since the Sui and Tang dynasties, thousands of poems have been written about this place, such as Du Fu's "Wild Geese of Hengyang," Wang Bo's "The wild geese are startled by the cold, and their cries are cut off at the river of Hengyang," and Fan Zhongyan's "The wild geese of Hengyang leave without a trace." The newly renovated Huiyan Peak (First Peak of Mount Heng) Tourist Area covers a total area of about 10 hectares, and combines cultural relics, famous buildings, natural scenery, cultural and creative districts, urban memories, and children's playgrounds. It has been officially approved as a national 4A-level scenic spot. Hengyang's city attractions are relatively concentrated, if the itinerary is full, you can basically finish all the popular attractions in one day, and it's enough to play slowly for two days😌 (If you want to go to Hengshan, you need to reserve at least one extra day! For specific strategies, see the previous article) 1⃣Dongzhou Island (a must-visit attraction, one of the eight ancient Hengzhou sceneries) After having breakfast at eight o'clock, we set off. We were surprised why there were no tourists near Dongzhou Island. We found out from the announcement at the entrance that the scenic area was temporarily closed due to the rain a few days ago. We couldn't go to the Shushan Academy either, we only took a picture of Figure 2, and rounded it up as if we had been there😭Tourists must ask in advance before going!!! 2⃣Hengyang Railway Museum (the development history of Hengyang Railway) Then we took a taxi to the Railway Museum, a two-story small building, with small rooms for display, and it can be visited in a while. The train next to the square at the entrance is very photogenic. (Opening hours Monday to Saturday 9:00-17:00) 3⃣Baoweili (a cultural and creative block hidden in the alley) Coming out of the Railway Museum, walk along the small road on the left of the museum gate for a few minutes to get there. The walls on both sides of the alley are mainly yellow, full of artistic graffiti, worth a look! If you love photography, you must go! It's very photogenic! (It's near noon at this time, after taking some photos, go to have lunch and rest at the hotel) 4⃣Shigu Academy (one of the four ancient academies) Avoid the hottest hours, set off for Shigu Academy at three o'clock, there are not many tourists, you can make an appointment at the door. The academy is not big, you can visit it in more than half an hour, it closes at five o'clock in the afternoon, just control the time. 5⃣Nanyue First Peak (the first of the seventy-two peaks of Nanyue) Also known as Huiyan Peak, the last stop of the day is planned to watch the sunset here, but it is not as high as imagined, and it can reach the top in five minutes. When we went there, the Yanfeng Temple on the mountain was already closed. If you want to burn incense and pray for blessings, you should go earlier. 6⃣Jiefang Road Pedestrian Street Walk around the most prosperous commercial area at night🌃, a boulevard + small alleys can be strolled for a long time, a lot of delicious food! 🍵I drank the tea Yan Yue color that I haven't drunk for a long time, 🍜I ate not stinky tofu, very fragrant little pig duck head, special yellow sand bone powder, authentic war brine powder + countless snacks, it's easy to gain three pounds! 7⃣Hengyang Museum I went to the museum before going to the station the next day and saw the treasure of the town hall-animal lifting beam pot🤔. The small two-story museum can also be visited in a while, and few people go😂It's completely ok to make an appointment if you want to go temporarily (Note❗From July 1st, the opening hours will be changed to Tuesday to Sunday 9:00-12:00, 13:00-17:00) 👉PS. If you only have one day of travel time, you can shorten the lunch break, go to the museum first and then go to Shigu Academy, you can go at noon to enjoy the air conditioning The attractions in Hengyang city are basically on both sides of the Xiangjiang River, and all the places I went to🈚are free! Just make an appointment! I recommend staying near Jiefang Avenue, close to the food street and most of the attractions, you can walk or share, but it's too hot in the afternoon🔥I suggest taking a taxi or a motorcycle on the side of the road
