Royal Garrison Church was built in about 1212 by the Bishop of Winchester as part of a hospital and hostel for pilgrims. Used as an ammunition store after the Reformation, it became part of the governor of Portsmouth’s house during Elizabeth I’s reign. The church was restored in the 19th century, and although the nave was badly damaged in a 1941 firebomb raid on Portsmouth, the chancel is still roofed and furnished. Boarded the Normandie ferry at Portsmouth for its 11:30pm departure – a bittersweet moment as this was actually her final voyage after 35 years of service! We raised a glass to this faithful vessel that's carried so many Alpine adventures over the decades. Slept soundly in our cabin (absolute must for the overnight crossing) and woke up in Caen at 5:45am French time, ready for the road ahead. The 12-hour drive through France remains one of my favorite parts of these trips. Something magical about watching the landscape transform from French countryside to Alpine peaks that never gets old, even on my fourth visit. Arrived to an unusually warm Easter in Tignes, but the weather gods smiled on us with a massive snowfall just before our first ski day on April 19th. Talk about perfect timing! With the season winding down, we're enjoying practically empty slopes and zero lift lines – the best-kept secret of late-season skiing. The free bus service makes getting around effortlessly easy, and I'm still here for another week exploring my favorite resort. With 360° views of pristine Alpine landscape and the massive Espace Killy ski area connecting to Val d'Isère, there's always new terrain to discover even after multiple visits. It’s a late season snow jackpot with what a stroke of luck with the conditions this late in the season! That heavy snowfall right before our first ski day created perfect powder conditions when most April visitors expect slushy spring skiing. With fewer people around, those fresh tracks lasted longer too. The experienced skiers in our group couldn't believe our timing - pristine April powder with the space to enjoy it properly! The best part? I'm only halfway through my stay! Still have another week to enjoy these perfect late-season conditions. This hotel is located on the coast of Atami, Shizuoka! It is convenient because it is only a 10-minute walk from the station, and there is an ocean on the way, so you can enjoy the scenery while walking, and the night view is also beautiful! The price is not expensive, the hotel is clean, and the staff's response was very good. It consists of 4 World's most famous ships in different periods of history: HMS Vicrory, the world's oldest naval vessel still in commission, HMS Warrior, HMS M.33 and HMS Alliance. The ticket also includes National Museum of Royal Navy, The Mary Rose Museum, and a boat tour, that you can see the latest Royal Navy Ships in a very close distance. Historical holiday home 🏡

Hey everyone 👋, today I'm sharing a super exciting Portsmouth day trip guide 🎉! It's super convenient from Brighton, only an hour and a half to Portsmouth & Southsea train station. After exiting the station, it's a 20-minute walk to the famous Spinnaker Tower (pictured in the first photo). Student tickets are only £15, and the view from the top is amazing! You can see the entire Portsmouth harbor, the cityscape, and even the Isle of Wight in the distance. It's totally worth it 😆! Right next to the Spinnaker Tower is Gunwharf Quays shopping center, perfect for some retail therapy 🛍️. From the second picture onwards, we're entering the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard! Adult tickets are £46, but the best part is it grants unlimited visits for a whole year, which seems like a great deal 😎! The first thing you see upon entering is HMS Warrior, an absolutely stunning ironclad warship! Next to it is the pier for the harbor tour, which lasts about 40 minutes and offers a close-up view of the harbor's charm. I was super lucky during my visit - both aircraft carriers were in port, along with six Type 45 destroyers, five of which were also docked (two in dry dock, three at the pier, all with scaffolding, looking like they were under maintenance 🤭). You can then visit HMS Victory and the remains of the Mary Rose, as well as HMS M33. Each site is steeped in history, making you marvel at the former glory of the Royal Navy. My only regret is that due to limited time, I missed two museums. I'll have to save them for my next trip. Isn't this Portsmouth day trip exciting and enriching 💖?
