The largest artificial lake in Shanghai, one hotel and one island
What I want to share with you today is the Dishui Lake InterContinental Hotel located in Lingang, Shanghai!
(The following reading takes 3 minutes 🕑🕑🕑) Before introducing this hotel, it is necessary to first understand about Dishui Lake
📍Lingang Dishui Lake is an artificial lake in Pudong New District, Shanghai. It is located at the intersection of Hangzhou Bay and the Yangtze River Estuary, and is the central lake of Lingang New City. Its design concept symbolizes a drop of water falling into the sea, rippling layers, and finally forming a lake surface. The lake is a perfect circle with a diameter of about 2.6 kilometers and a total area of about 5.56 square kilometers. The water source of Dishui Lake comes from the Dazhi River, a tributary of the Huangpu River. The Dishui Lake InterContinental Hotel is the only hotel located on the lake, and the beautiful scenery and superior location can be imagined!
📍Switch to the topic:
📖This hotel🏨was formerly the Crowne Plaza Dishui Lake after renovation in 2023. Upgraded to the current Dishui Lake InterContinental Hotel (it is said that it is currently a state-owned enterprise)
About 🚖 transportation:
Starting from the center of Shanghai at 10 am on Saturday, it took about an hour to reach the hotel via the Hulu Expressway, about 70 kilometers away.
If you don't drive, don't worry. The infrastructure construction of Lingang is still very complete, so whether you are from Shanghai or from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai or even all over the country, you can always reach Lingang smoothly by subway.
When you are one kilometer away from the hotel, you will find the superior geographical location: a small island is connected by a bridge, and the hotel is located on this island. Looking at the entire Lingang, there is only this hotel standing on the island in the middle of the lake, so it is equivalent to a hotel sitting on an island!
About 🔑 check-in:
This time we left in the summer, and it was the hottest few days in Shanghai, so we were prepared for the crowds! Fortunately, there were not many people when we arrived, and the check-in process was relatively smooth. If you are an InterContinental member, you will also be given corresponding courtesy. It was only that we had to wait until about 2pm to get the room card (probably because of the peak season and the weekend), and we used this time to go to the Chinese restaurant for dinner!
About 🏘️ room type/layout:
The hotel looks like a flower, so the rooms are distributed in five "petals", namely abcde areas, of which the high area of BC area can see the lake view. We stayed in the balcony room this time with two relatively large balconies and relatively spacious space. The suite is more than 50 square meters. Since it was renovated in the past year, the facilities are relatively new overall, and there is no smell of new decoration.
The bedding is relatively comfortable. The mattress is moderately soft and hard, suitable for most people, and there are two USB charging ports at the head of the bed to meet mainstream needs.
The linens are quite standard, and the bath is in large bottles (Swedish raw materials in Guangdong cans)
The tea area has free drinking water (unlimited free throughout the trip), capsule coffee machine, and small refrigerator are also available (unfortunately there is only poor Coke Sprite in it). Overall, the facilities are quite complete.
About the 📣 sound insulation problem:
First of all, there are no public roads and vehicles around, so there is no traffic noise. In addition, it is the peak season during the stay, and I was not disturbed by the children's voices at night, so the sound insulation is also good.
About 🍷🍽️ restaurant features/executive lounge:
The hotel has a total of three restaurants, a Western restaurant, a Chinese restaurant and a Korean restaurant. Due to time constraints, I did not experience the Korean restaurant. The Chinese restaurant is Caifenglou, which mainly serves Cantonese and local cuisine, and has Chinese food and dinner. The taste is still okay, but I personally feel that it is not as good as Caifenglou in Shenkeng Shimao InterContinental. For lunch, my aunt and my children spent more than 300 yuan in total (there is a discount for InterContinental membership cards). The Western restaurant is also the buffet restaurant in the morning, which is not very big. Breakfast is a buffet. Although the variety is not dazzling, it is enough to eat!
Lunch and dinner are ordered. To be honest, it is very average. The steak ingredients are not good and it feels completely pre-made. The hamburgers and sandwiches are about the same level as mine. (If you are lazy and don't want to eat out, just order takeout directly. There are express lockers, which are very convenient.) In addition, the afternoon tea and Happyhour in the executive lounge are also a bit shabby. They do not reflect the level of InterContinental. Compared with the executive lounge of InterContinental Suzhou, it is simply incomparable!
Of course, each hotel has its own characteristics, but this InterContinental restaurant is really lame!
About 🎯 leisure and entertainment facilities: There is a special children's playground, which is not very big but children like to play.
The highlight is the outdoor swimming pool 🌊, which is directly connected to the surface of Dishui Lake and has a unique scenery. There are three swimming pools outdoors, and the water depth is very friendly between 0.9m-1.2m. In particular, there is a separate children's pool, which is convenient for parents to let their children play in it. (Friendly reminder: Both adults and children need swimming caps outdoors!)
My two kids played in the swimming pool for three days and were very happy!
I don't know if it was affected by the typhoon weather or because of the lakeside. In short, the lakeside here is compared with the hot days in downtown Shanghai. I always feel that it will be lowered by a few quarters, and people will feel much more comfortable instantly. So it is really a great choice to come here on hot days and don't want to leave Shanghai!
About 🗺 surroundings:
There are still many things to explore in the surroundings, such as a sailing club next to the hotel. The sailing ⛵️ recreational projects here are already very mature. In addition, there is a large outdoor park less than one kilometer away from the hotel. When the weather is not too hot, you can take your children there to play for a day. You can also find a day to camp by the lake and set up a tent. The catering facilities are also complete. Because of the establishment of the free trade zone, there are many large shopping malls here. Don't worry about food and drink. Just search on your mobile phone APP! In short, there are still many ways to play in Dishui Lake!
💗Other tips:
📋Finally, let me talk about the overall experience. There are no major problems with the hotel's hardware and software. The service staff are also subjectively very positive and friendly. There are many unskilled service staff who may be new to the peak season. It is understandable!
The sunset in the executive lounge, the outdoor pool by the lake, the hotel lobby, and the night view on the bridge by the lake are all very photogenic places, and there are free travel photos (but only three free photos)
For a short trip, Dishui Lake InterContinental is still worth experiencing once!
