It's as if it were an adventure game designed specifically for solitary travelers, facing the vast, gray Indian Ocean, walking alone on life's journey, never knowing where the next step will lead. Perhaps this is the contemplation the design evokes, or maybe it's just my own whimsical imagination. Disconnect: Upon entering the hotel lobby, a grand spiral staircase adorned with sculptures of warriors on horseback catches the eye. The struggling postures and panicked expressions of the sculptures bring to mind the soldiers who stubbornly resisted and defended their homeland during Sri Lanka's colonial period. 📍Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel in Sri Lanka|||Since my first visit to Galle five years ago, I fell in love with the colonial style here🙊. After many years, I visited again, just to experience the works of my favorite architect Geoffrey Bawa in recent years. The Jetwing Lighthouse Hotel in Galle is probably Bawa's most low-key masterpiece. I came here in the rain, and when I first arrived, I passed through the narrow and closed entrance, mistakenly thinking that I had entered the parking lot. But when I turned my head and saw the textile work of Barbara Sansoni (Bawa's private house also has her work) hanging on the wall of the Reception, and then the sculptural staircase that came into view, I instantly returned to my senses, yes, it's here! The spiral staircase that runs through the three floors is the symbol here. The railings are decorated with complex bronze sculptures, showing the scene of the Sri Lankan people resisting the Dutch invasion in the 17th century. The floor is teak. A few days ago, when I visited the temple under construction in Ella, I learned that: currently in Sri Lanka, teak can only be used in special buildings (such as temples). When I reached the second floor, the view followed the light to the boundless sea. A scene of Indian Ocean waves hitting the reef came into view, stirring up water vapor and bringing different sensory shocks.
